Dimensional Sentiments

Welcome back, all my friends!  I have some really fun projects to share with you today.  This week you are sure to be inspired by the projects I get to share with you.  I have some great projects ranging from a scrapbook page and beautiful cards to how to spice up your patio, and last, but not least, a wonderful biscotti bar that you will want to share with those you love.  So let’s start getting motivated!

Spring Yes Please By Anna Komenda

Sometimes it is hard to get started, or know where to begin when creating a layout.  Today Anna shares a beautiful layout and it is one that opens the door to many new ideas.  Start with a foundation and build on it by using different embellishments and added dimension.  I love the way she did some fussy cutting on her butterflies and dragonflies which really gave a great pop to her page.  Even though Anna used a kit for her layout, I am sure you have plenty of paper that you could create a one-of-a-kind layout with all the supplies you already have in your craft room.

Most paper crafters have a nice selection of scraps, so why not put them to good use?  You will feel a great sense of accomplishment when you complete a darling layout just by using this idea and only using what you already have on hand.  Step out of your comfort zone and see what you can create; you will be sure to be amazed at your creations.  I would love for you to see more of the creative designs that Anna has made.  Click here and we will pop on over to Scrapowisko so you can see more of Anna’s creativity.  Big hugs to Anna for being such a constant inspiration to her fellow paper crafters.

Dimensional Sentiments By Jennifer McGuire

Dimensional sentiments bring unique and interesting details to this beautiful card.  This is a technique you can use with almost any stamps and dies and it adds some real creativity to the card.  Here is an example of adding dimensional sentiments to a card by taking a stamped image, fussy cutting it out, and adhering it with adhesive foam.  Take a large stamp (“hello” in this example) and stamp over the top.  This gives great dimension and really helps the sentiment pop.  You can also use this technique with layered die cuts.  It will add a beautiful, dimensional sentiment to your card as well.

Today I really wanted to share these beautiful cards created by Jennifer McGuire.  The lovely flowers really caught my eye.  I love how Jennifer popped them up and gave each one a fabulous, dimensional look.  This really adds a beautiful finishing touch to the cards.  Click here and I will take you over to Jennifer McGuire Ink where she has a video tutorial so you will be able to follow each step she takes to create these.  You will learn many tips and tricks as well.  This is one video you don’t want to miss.  Jennifer is very talented and I know you will learn something new from her.  You will be so inspired that you will want to begin making some cards right away.  Have fun creating, my friends!

Painted Patio By Laura Gummerman

This painted concrete is bound to blow your mind.  Painting a floor can be an economical way to add creativity and beauty to your patio without breaking the bank.  Bring a fresh and updated look to your patio just by adding some color and design.  An outdoor patio that has been painted helps create a very homey feel.  You will want to entertain and have guests come over often!  The best part of this is that it is super simple to do.  Let your imagination run wild and create your own fun design.

While researching different ways of doing this I came upon some tips and tricks that I would like to share with you:

  1.  Clean surface really well.
  2.  Make sure the surface is completely dry before painting.
  3.  Prime the area before painting with a cement primer (this will prevent chipping).
  4.  Paint with a cement paint.
  5.  Apply paint with a synthetic roller that has some texture to speed the process up.
  6.  It is recommended to mix a non-skid floor additive to prevent the area from being too slippery after being painted.

Come with me and I will take you over to A Beautiful Mess where you will find step-by-step instructions given by an amazing lady, Laura Gummerman.  You will definitely want to take some time to explore this blog as there are many wonderful things to see and share.

Almond Joy Biscotti By Erica Pitera

Almond Joy Biscotti is sinfully delicious!  This rich biscotti is made with chocolate, coconut, and almonds and drizzled with more of the same!  Biscotti has two distinguishing features; their long, thin, curved shape and their crisp and crunchy texture.  I don’t think there is a better cookie for dunking into your hot drink.  Now you know why you see canisters of them lining the counters of coffee shops and bakeries.  Such a yummy treat!

These make such a perfect gift.  Mother’s Day is not too far away – you can wrap a few in cellophane bags with festive ribbons and a cute homemade card and you will have a really cute gift.  Since Biscotti are not overly common, the recipient will certainly feel special receiving them. If there is an Almond Joy lover in your life that you want to impress with an elegant cookie, you should give these a try!  Let’s pop on over to Sweet Tooth where Erica has the recipe waiting for you!

I hope you carve out some time this weekend to try a new technique or two.  Be sure to let me know how it goes!  I appreciate you stopping by and hope you have been inspired to have a fun crafting day.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I will see you back next Saturday.

Take care,

LeAnn
