Sundays With Lorraine

Hello my crafty friends, and welcome back to the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo blog.  Today is a perfect day for some serious crafting in your nice air-conditioned craft room.  I’m here in California and it is 114 degrees.  When life gives you scary hot weather, why not stay in your nice cool happy place?  I’ve got you covered with some inspiration to get your creative therapy started, so sit back, relax, and enjoy.  I even have a yummy dinner planned for you and as usual, it’s under an hour from the kitchen to your dining room table.

Tips For Layering  by Kylie Kingham

Layering on your paper crafting projects isn’t always as easy as it looks, but not to worry, with a little help from your creative friends over on the Kaiser Craft Blog you, too, can create the perfect scrapbook layout with lots of visual interest.  I love how the layering gives the photo somewhere to sit and also frames the image beautifully.

Aren’t you just itching to flip to the next page to see how the journey continues on?  I highly recommend stopping by the Kaiser Craft Blog to check out some other gorgeous samples of how their design team used layering to bring their projects to the next level.  Happy scrappin’ my creative friends!

Another Year Older By May Sukyong Park

A beautiful inky background is one of my go-to techniques for many of my card fronts.  I love the process, I find it very therapeutic and the possibilities are truly endless.  I also love how May die cut the word “love” from Hero Arts Love Stamp & Cut seven times out of white cardstock and mounted them together to make it thick using a glue pen.  It really makes the title pop!

I hope you’ve been inspired to break out your favorite inks, blending tools, and some plain white cardstock and give it a try.

DIY Trash To Treasure By Cristy

Do you love the idea of crossover crafting?  Having the ability to merge your extensive talents is the ultimate achievement!  It truly makes my heart sing when I discover an item that has seen better days and I can transform it into a real piece of art.  Thrift stores and yard sales are the best places to find such items and being the crafty person that you are, you have the ability to see them for what they can be.

I hope you’ve been inspired to create a few trash-to-treasure projects yourself.  I will warn you, it is extremely addicting but oh-so-easy when you have creative peeps like Cristy to guide you through the process.  Be sure to stop by her blog Confessions of a Serial Do It Yourselfer, you will be blown away when you see what she creates with what most people would disregard.  Kudos to you for saving the landfills one beautiful project at a time.

Firecracker Chicken Thighs From The Kitchn

This Firecracker Chicken is all about the amazing sauce so bring on the napkins, you’re gonna need them.  This is definitely one of those finger licking good chicken recipes.  I am happy to report that with a little help from our friends over at the Kitchn Food Blog you can have this tasty meal on the table in no time.  I have a feeling your family will be requesting this dinner again and again.  Bon appetit, my hungry friend!

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s creative therapy!  Have an amazing week and I look forward to seeing you back next Sunday.

Hugs to all,

Lorraine

Always enjoy learning from you Lorraine, and this year it was how to get your glitter up from your work area or any where with a swifter mat. It was amazing to see all that glitter disappear. Thanks for the tip, I will be packing swifter mats from now on if I plan on working with glitter. Just wipe and it’s gone, like magic.
