Freebie Friday: Queen & Co.

Rainbow Washi Tape card by Jen Walker

Freebie Friday with Jen Walker

Welcome back to Freebie Friday! I hope you enjoyed my virtual trip to the Scrapbook Expo in last week’s post. Many of you commented that you felt like you were enjoying the event right along with me. I am thrilled with all your wonderful feedback. I actually felt like I was enjoying my adventure at my first Scrapbook Expo again as well! I had a fabulous time there and hope you will all get a chance to experience one, two, or maybe lots of Scrapbook Expos.

This weekend marks the first Scrapbook Expo for 2015. The Grapevine, TX event opened last night with the Mega Make N Take Extravaganza. Oh, what fun! And lots of attendees were up bright and early this morning to take part in the early bird shopping. Hmm … I wonder what booth they each ran to first? When I went I knew exactly where I wanted to go and made a beeline for that booth no matter what sales were offered elsewhere. After I had made my purchases in the first booth, I wandered the complete show floor. And the classes … we are halfway through day 1 of awesome classes. A lot of learning will have taken place and lots more will happen over the rest of the weekend. The crops will be a blast for sure as well. With lots of time to get creative, don’t forget to enjoy the games, socialize with friends, and make new ones, as well as maybe win a prize! No matter what part of the Expo you take part in, I know you will have a wonderful time.

This week I enjoyed creating with Queen & Co. Trendy Tape and embellishments. Our giveaway this week includes newly released Skinny Minnie Trendy tapes so I decided to create a layout and a couple cards using mostly washi tape with only a few other embellishments. I don’t know about you, but I never seem to have enough washi tape. I love washi tape and the team at Queen & Co. have so many different colours and styles to choose from. Every time they release new products, they always have new styles of their washi tape, Trendy Tape. I can never seem to get enough; I love it all!

With all the different colours and patterns of washi tape available, it is always fun to create a rainbow and add embellishments to coordinate with each colour.

Boo Layout by Jen Walker for Scrapbook Expo

I know it is not Halloween, but I am working hard to create layouts for all of the photos I already have printed before I print more. I figure if I felt they needed to be printed, then I need to create a home for the photos. This photo is of my kids and our neighbours going out trick or treating in 2006. I love to look at photos from when the kids were younger. They grow up so fast and even they enjoy seeing these photos. They also like it when I complete pages about them so they can sit and flip through all our memories.

The Queen & Co. washi tape made for a wonderful background on this layout. The patterns and colours are endless!

Cupcake card by Jen Walker for Scrapbook Expo

This next card was a lot of fun to create. My daughter saw that I was creating a Halloween layout and suggested that I use my Paper Smooches cupcake dies to create a Halloween-themed ice cream sundae. I started off by embossing both the green and the white cardstock to add some dimension.

The ‘bowl’ for the ice cream is actually die cut from the white cardstock and the black polka dot washi tape is placed behind the white cardstock which is raised on foam adhesive. Next, I covered a square of cardstock with the bubbly circles washi tape and then die cut it out to represent the ice cream. The cherry was also punched from white cardstock covered in washi tape. I then raised both the ice cream and the cherry on foam adhesive to add lots of dimension and fun to the card.

My favorite embelishments are the pearls or any gem, you can add these little jewels to anything on your layout or card, they look great on washi tape, especially if the washi has flowers on them, just a little jewel and you have a great card or layout! Thanks for the chance to win!

Queen & Co. has the most superior product by far. In fact, at the Scrapbook Expo in Grapevine last weekend, I was stuck on a page that needed some oomph. I went straight to Mike at the Q & Co. booth. I took his suggestion and ran with it, and I’m lovin’ that page! It was the very last page of my two volume Kauai trip and the new lime green “aloha” washi really polished that page with a lasting impression! The only problem I have with washi is keeping my daughters rom stealing it!!
