Happy Tuesday! Are you getting creative today? If so, grab your favorite dies and try this fun technique called “nestling your die cuts”!
Typically after I run my metal dies through the die cutting machine, I throw away the excess paper. But what if we saved those pieces and put them to good use? Here I’ve cut out the word “snow” with a Wonderful Words: Snow die from white cardstock. Then instead of tossing the extra paper that is left over after it’s cut out, I kept the bottom piece and used it to add to my design. I stamped fun wintery words on it with an Aqua Mist blue ink and tucked the word “snow” on top, almost like the word is setting in a “pile of snow”!
The “snow” word was stamped to make it blue with Wonderful Words: Snow stamp set, and the wintery words were stamped with Background Basics: Christmas Joy. The background is cut with the Card Base-ics #2 die. Last I added some trees with Background Basics: Evergreens and a snowflake die cut from the Fancy Flakes dies.
It’s never too early to get a head start on your holiday and thank you cards for Christmas! I hope this idea will get your creative juices flowing.
If you don’t want to make a holiday card with this idea, check out THIS card by Yoonsun Hur. She also die cut the word and nestled it back into her card, and I LOVE how she stamped the background behind the word to make it POP! What a great idea!
Enjoy your holiday weekend, and I’ll see you next week with more cardmaking ideas!
