Freebie Friday – Echo Park Paper

Birthday Boy by Jen Walker for Scrapbook Expo - Weekly Scrapper

Hello Scrapbook Expo friends!

It is a yucky, rainy day here in Toronto. The weather is dreadfully muggy and it has poured rain almost all day today. I sure hope that this storm blows through quickly as I have a ton of gardening work that needs to be done tomorrow.

This week’s projects are all about birthdays! The projects were created using Echo Park Paper‘s Birthday Boy and Birthday Girl collections as well as the Party stamps and the 6×6 Balloons stencil.  These collections have lots of papers and elements that can be used for other themes as well.

Echo Park Birthday Collections

The first layout I created was of my son’s first birthday. He did not enjoy his cake and blowing out the candles, but was very happy once we gave him the Cookie Monster and Big Bird characters in push cars that had been sitting on his cake.

I don’t create a lot of double paged layouts, but I do like it when the layout on the left side and the right side are coordinated.  On the day of my son’s first birthday party, he was so excited to have all his friends and family over for a party that just after everyone arrived, he fell asleep and ended up sleeping on the living room floor for a good portion of his party.

This next layout is from my daughter’s 8th birthday party. We hosted a beach bash for her party. It is one of the most talked about birthday parties we ever hosted. The kids loved this theme!

The last project is a quick birthday card. When you use stencils and stamps, you can pull together a nice card very quickly when you realize you need a card and don’t have one on hand.

I make a LOT of birthday cards for friends & family, and I love the idea of using coordinating papers designed specifically for birthdays. It’s usually not a problem for me to come up with ideas for girls’ cards, but boys’ cards always stump me. So I’d prefer to have the Boy Collection on hand for those occasions. The nice part is that several of the papers in the Boy Collection look like they would work for either boys or girls. Great collections!!!
