Saturdays With LeAnn

Gift Bags

Happy Saturday my friends, and thank you for joining me today!  I want to share some fun projects created by fabulous designers, and of course a yummy dessert for your summer gatherings!  I hope you can take some time to sit back and enjoy the inspiration.  Enjoy!

Pocket Pages By Amy Little

It has been awhile since I shared pocket page ideas.  This past week I went on a fabulous vacation with my family.  I decided I was not going to put these memories in an envelope and hope to scrapbook them one day. The next day I printed some photos (well, a lot of photos) and decided to make a Pocket Page album.  This was so much fun and got me excited to share some ideas with you today!  Whether you are going on a dream vacation or exploring where you live, be sure to take lots of photos to document your adventures!

Pocket Pages

Today I want to share three of my favorite items for creating my pocket pages.  My first one is Pocket Life Cards.  These contain cards like “Places” and “Today” and can help focus your vacation journaling.  Second would be cut apart pages. These are great for your pocket layouts.  You can fussy cut and layer so many different pieces to create a one-of-a kind masterpiece!  Third, wood veneers or chipboard pieces.  What a great and fun way to add some layering, dimension, and personality to your layout.  Take time to record your feelings and thoughts about your photos in that moment so you will always cherish that special time.  Let me take you over to BoBunny where Amy has created this adorable pocket page.  She will give you some tips in creating this page, along with a list of all the supplies you will need to get started.  Thank you, Amy for your fabulous inspiration!

Shaker Over A Colored Image By Nina-Marie Trapani

The sizzling hot shaker trend shows no signs of cooling down anytime soon.  That is good news for me because I love this fun technique.  Today I want to share a new shaker card inspiration.  Yes, let’s add a colored image underneath the fun sequins!  I always look for some unique and different ways to create shaker cards.

Shaker Over A Colored Image

There is nothing better than receiving a handmade card in the mail!  The cards that leave a lasting memory in my mind are always interactive in some way.  This is truly one of those cards that will forever be cherished.  I highly recommend stopping by the Simon Says Stamp blog where you can see some step-by-step instructions by Nina-Marie on how to create this beautiful card.  You will learn so many new techniques for watercoloring along with adding some magical effects to the card using clear sequins.  This is one technique you don’t want to miss out on!  Have fun creating!

Gift Bags By Riikka Kovasin

These sweet bags are not only adorable but can be used for multiple purposes; they are perfect for Thank You, Get Well, Happy Birthday, Just Because, or just about any occasion you need it for. Basic brown bags can make the prettiest bags for gift giving.  How fun to personalize each one, and then adding a tag is such a bonus!

Gift Bags

These stamps offer fun and unique designs that will be a great addition to any occasion for your bags or paper project.  Don’t hesitate to start playing with these fun stamps and see what great designs you can come up with!  Riikki used the Prima Cling Mounted Stamp Doll with Ruffle Dress to create her bag.  I hope you have been inspired to start your own adorable gift bags!

Chocolate Cheesecake Dessert By Tonia Larson

Chocolate cheesecake is one of the ultimate desserts.  With so many recipes, you will find that this one is just right for you!  When the occasion calls for an extra-special dessert, this creamy, rich, chocolaty cheesecake is the one you will want to serve!

Chocolate Cheesecake Dessert

This four-layer chocolate cheesecake dessert is the ultimate way to serve chocolate.  It is also way easier than it looks. Click here for a full video on how to make this scrumptious dessert.  Your family and friends will love this one!

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope this gives you some inspiration and great ideas for a fun summer crafting day!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I will see you back here at Weekly Scrapper next Saturday.

Hugs to all,

Sundays With Lorraine

Hello, my crafty friends, and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper! Today we have a scrapbook layout, a gorgeous watercolor card, a DIY trash-to-treasure project and, of course, a delicious meal that will get you out of the kitchen (and back into your craft room where you belong) in no time! 😉  So sit back, relax, and enjoy today’s creative therapy! You deserve a little creative “me” time.

Sweetie Love Layout By Riikka Kovasin

There is so much more than first meets the eye when you look at this gorgeous layout. I was truly inspired by the way the artsy background complements the photo versus competing for the attention that it deserves. It looks complicated but with a little help from your creative friend Riikka you, too, can pull off your own work of art in no time. Big hugs to Riikka for showing us how it’s done.

I hope you’ve been inspired to break out your favorite coloring mediums and create your own unique backgrounds. There is something to be said about creating a one-of-a-kind piece. Whether you are a mixed media queen like Riikka or just getting your feet wet, you are sure to pick up a few techniques from Riikka’s video so be sure to check it out. Click here and I will be happy to take you over to her blog Paperiliitin. Happy scrappin’ my friends!

Watercolored Backgrounds By Shari Carroll

I confess, I seem to be on a watercolor kick, but in my defense, there are so many amazing projects using all kinds of fun techniques that it’s hard to resist sharing the inspiration. Whether you’re creating a card, tag, scrapbook layout, art journal pages, etc., there is always room for some watercolor magic.

More often than not when designing a card I don’t add the sentiment until the need arises; that way you’re ready for any occasion.  Just grab one of your cards, add a greeting, and you are good to go. Many of you know that I travel often with the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo, so things can get hectic. This habit of making my cards without committing to a specific occasion has saved me many times. I highly recommend creating your own stash of not only cards but also background pieces to use at a later date. It’s a real time saver when you’re in a pinch.

DIY Jewelry Storage By Christy

How cute is this shabby chic Jewelry Tower?!  I can definitely see this beauty sitting on my dresser – it’s perfect to toss your favorite pieces of jewelry into at the end of the day, or maybe your hair accessories in one layer. I absolutely love the blue dishes with the distressed candlesticks, however, you can easily customize your own Jewelry Tower to fit your style and space.

The next time you’re going to yard sales or visiting your favorite thrift store, don’t hesitate to pick up those pretty dishes and make something beautiful. Kudos to you for saving our landfills one recycled piece at a time! One person’s trash is another crafter’s treasure.

Salmon Teriyaki With Pineapple Salsa By Sara

I don’t know about you, but I would much rather be creating something beautiful in my craft room instead of hanging out in a hot kitchen! I bet you feel the same way. With a little help from the culinary master Sara, we can all have a healthy and delicious meal on the table in no time.

Flaky and tender fish, sweet and savory teriyaki sauce, and a tropical tasting salsa – you can’t go wrong! Click here and I will escort you over to one of my favorite food blogs Dinner At The Zoo. I must admit it’s thanks to Sara that my family eats so well.

I do hope you will take a minute or two to visit the individual blogs I have shared to see more details on these wonderful projects. Hugs to all who have shared the inspiration for today’s post. Have an amazing week and I’ll see you next Sunday.  If you happen to be in the neighborhood of the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St Paul. I’ll be at the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo and would love to meet you in person. I hope I get to see you at the show!

Sundays With Lorraine

Good day, my crafty friends, and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper! It’s time for some creative therapy, so sit back, relax, and enjoy. You deserve a little ME time!

You Make Me Happy By Riikka

Have you had the opportunity to play with a Gelli plate? Monoprinting on a Gelli plate is simple, fun, and a great way to create unique backgrounds. I love the fact that you don’t need to purchase any expensive tools to create your own works of art, you can use things that you already have on hand, such as bubble wrap, plastic grids, foam stamps, stencils, leaves, different fibers, ribbons, and lace to create interesting imagery on your plate. The gratification is immediate, and the prints are amazing!

You Make Me Happy By Riikka Kovasin

As you can see by this beautiful layout designed by Riikka, creating your own unique background is just a few simple supplies away. To check out how easily this layout came together, click here and I will be honored to escort you over to Riikka’s blog Paperiliitin. I highly recommend watching the step-by-step video that Riikka has prepared to inspire her fellow paper crafters. You’re going to love it!

Celebrating Kindness By Jenn Shurkus

I know it’s hard to believe but not everyone is a talented paper crafter like you are. How sweet would it be to create a beautiful set of cards all wrapped up and tied with a bow, then gift them to someone special. What a perfect random act of kindness.

A Bit Of Kindness Card Set By Jenn Shurkus

Thanks to Jenn you can create this adorable set of cards in no time. Just click HERE and I will escort you over to her amazing blog – Creative Chick. Kudos to you for sharing those smiles one handmade card at a time.

A Little Help Organizing Your Craft Room

We can all use a little help when it comes to keeping our treasured craft supplies organized. I instantly fell in love with this adorable cart that can be purchased at your local Ikea store. The cart has four casters which makes it easy for you to move around. If your craft room looks like mine, space is very limited so it’s small size is definitely a plus.

Updated Raskog Cart Organisation

You can use the cart in different ways, including as an extra work area in the kitchen, as practical storage in the hall, or as a unique nightstand in your bedroom. The adjustable middle section is easy to move to adapt to different storage needs. If you, too, have fallen in love the RÅSKOG Utility cart (it runs about $29.99) click here and I will take you over to the Ikea website so you can check availability in your area.

Honey Garlic Shrimp

Thanks to Kevin & Amanda you can have this delicious meal on the table in under an hour. Not only is this tasty dish perfect for those “need-it-in-a-hurry” moments, but it’s also on the healthy side. Sautéed shrimp and red bell peppers are poured over a bed of spiraled zucchini and yellow squash. So delicious and flavorful!

Honey Garlic Shrimp

Let’s take a trip over to Kevin & Amanda’s blog so you can print out the recipe. Just click here – you and your family are going to love this simple summer dinner.

Thanks for stopping by; I hope you have a wonderfully creative week ahead of you. With summer in full swing that means the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo is on the move and we have great things planned for you. Click here and I will take you over to our website so you can start planning an amazing weekend with some of your fellow paper crafters. I’ll meet you at the Creativity Center!

Because You Are Amazing

Another wonderful weekend is here!  I hope you have had a great week and are ready to share part of your weekend with me.  Today I want to inspire you with projects from several fabulous designers.  Each designer has their own unique talent.  I hope you will take some time to enjoy their styles and create some of the new things I’m sharing with you today.

Oh Shine By Riikka Kovasin

I wanted to share this layout today because of the wonderful background that uses different techniques and mediums.  Creating your own background is a great way to add some visual interest to layouts.  Using layers of dimension will draw the viewer into the focal point of your layout.  My favorite is how Riikka uses her washi tape to give contrast and appeal to her layout.  Some people think of mixed media as being busy, but remember that it can be elegant and soothing and complement your photos.

Oh Shine

There are a lot of different techniques involved in this background, however, the photo still takes center stage.  Riikka kept things simple using soft colors and glitter.  I love when you can take time to be creative and make something brand new.  Now is the time to break out some of your fun mediums, distress inks, embossing powders, and your favorite stamps and stencils.  Have fun creating a beautiful background on your next layout!

Hello By Karen Letchworth

I have to admit my eyes were drawn immediately to this retro telephone image combined with the fun embellishments on this card, and I thought you would also be inspired by this sweet card designed by Karen Letchworth.  Who doesn’t love cards? I know we all enjoy pretty things with lovely details. There is nothing better than getting a handmade treasure in the mail that was made with love.

Don’t you just love being inspired by the creations of other talented artists?  Once you have found an adorable card, you can take the time to recreate it and add your own personal touch.  Now that you have fallen in love with this sweet card, let me take you on over to Karen’s blog My Cup Runneth Over where you will find the supplies that Karen used.  Karen always does such a perfect job with her layering skills. You will be in awe when you see all the different possibilities she created!

Because You Are Amazing by Amy Lee

Are you ready for some more fun and inspiration?  This is one of those “wow” cards that you can create using a few different techniques along with some calming colors.  I love how the mini scallop square is a die cut using watercolor paper, then heat embossed with roses all over the background. Amy also die cut some flourishes from watercolor paper and vellum using the leaf flourishes.

Because You Are Amazing

For Amy’s beautiful color she used distress inks and a mini blending tool, then brushed the same ink colors with a wet paint brush giving it a watercolor look.  Wouldn’t you love to be the one who receives this gorgeous card?  Click here and I will take you over to The Craft Bunny where you will be able to get all the supplies needed and find more fabulous projects by Amy.

Flower Box By Tami Mayberry

This darling little flower box is a perfect size for a small gift and card to give to someone special.  It is fast, fun, and very easy to create. You will want to make several while you have all your materials pulled out so you will have plenty on hand!

Flower card Box

You are just a few basic supplies away from creating this fun up-cycled flower box in just minutes.  Click here and I will take you over to the Sizzix blog where you can find all the dies and steps to create yours.  This is a project you will have so much fun creating!

Watermelon Cooler By Kelly Senyei

Here in Utah we have been having a heat wave and boy, is it HOT!  When I came upon these watermelon coolers I couldn’t have been happier.  What a refreshing treat on a hot summer day! This yummy cooler is the consistency of a slushie without the sugar high!

Watermelon Cooler

You can pour the coolers into chilled mason jars for a fun summertime twist.  Tie a different color of ribbon around the tops of the jars so everyone can keep track of their beverage. (I think it makes them look very cute as well!)  Come on over with me to Just A Taste where you can get the recipe from Kelly.  You will put smiles on your family’s faces.  Such a great way to cool down!

I have really enjoyed sharing these projects today and hope they have been inspiring for you.  Thank you for taking the time to stop by.  Looking for additional inspiration?  Visit Weekly Scrapper every day, and make sure to pop back here next Saturday; I promise I will have more inspiring projects for you!  Enjoy your weekend!

High Roller Layout by Leigh Ann Odynski

I love how Leigh used the Sunburst cut file and transformed it into that fun arrow pattern on this fabulous layout. Way to go, Leigh, using those tools and dies in ways other than they were intended, now that’s creativity! I encourage you to play with your supplies like Leigh did. Just because its titled a sunburst doesn’t mean it has to stay a sunburst, right? 😉

Thank You Card by Lucy Abrams

What makes this card stand out is the white heat embossed sentiment stamped on the aqua colored vellum; such an elegant look. Don’t you love it when a beautiful card comes together so quickly? A big thanks to Lucy for being such an inspiration to her fellow paper crafters!

Thank You Card By Lucy

I hope you’ve been inspired to create one of your handmade cards and remind someone how much you appreciate them. Thank you cards are my favorite cards to make. I’m a firm believer that random acts of kindness should be acknowledged whenever possible and what better way than to send a hug through the mail. Doesn’t it just make your day when a friend makes you a handmade card that actually makes it to the mailbox? 😉

How cute would this be with a special photo of you and one of your crafty BFF’s. I love creating fun little keepsakes than giving them as little pishkies later on.

Sundays With Lorraine

Hello, again, my artsy friends; welcome to the weekend! I’m happy to see that you’ve found some time to get crafty. Sit back, relax, and enjoy today’s inspiration.

Always Say I Love You

Let’s start out with this sweet layout designed by the very talented Riikka Kovasin. I fell in love with the mixed media influenced background, the subtle textures and colors, and how they complement this adorable photo. What a perfect example of how to included the artsy mixed media style without overpowering your precious photos.

I hope that you’ve been inspired to incorporate some mixed media techniques on your next scrapbook layout; the two are a match made in heaven. Happy scrapping!

Life Is Better With Friends

Have you gone digital yet? This beautiful friendship card was designed by  using a Gerbera Daisies digital image. I must confess, I haven’t yet taken the plunge into digi stamping, but after seeing this adorable card I think I need to dive in and give it a try.

Life Is Better With Friends

I love how you have the ability to resize your images to exactly what you need; the possibilities are endless! I hope this sweet card has inspired you to give digital stamping a try. Not to worry; there will always be room for all our treasured traditional stamp sets.

Multi-Step Lilac Stamping: Friends

Would you believe that the gorgeous coloring and shading was done by stamping and not coloring? Debbie used the JustRite Multi-Step Lilac Bouquet clear stamps to create the beautiful floral images. Who knew you could get such depth using nothing but stamps and your ink pads?

Multi-Step Lilac Stamping: Friends

At the risk of being labeled an enabler, I think we all need to give this multi-step stamping a try, don’t you? To make it a bit easier for you, just click here and I will take you over to the JustRite site so you can check out all their must-have stamp sets. And here is a link to some step-by-step techniques for using the multi-step stamping technique, found on the JustRite blog. Think of the possibilities – gorgeous; fast and easy, ya gotta love it!

DIY Magnetic Frame

Doesn’t it make you smile when you can walk into your craft room and come out with a beautiful home décor piece? Would you believe that this adorable magnetic frame, designed by Michele Boyer, started out as a plain wood frame?

DIY Magnetic Frame

By creating a frame with a thin metal background, it’s easy to change your photos and magnets as often as you’d like. I’m loving this; my Mom lives in New York and I’m in California so I’m always sending out photos. Now she can change them out whenever she wants!

Slow Cooker Cashew Chicken

For many years I thought of my slow cooker as something I only used in the winter for my stews, chilis, and soups. But when you think about it, it’s really great for the summer as well because who wants to heat up the oven when its 90 degrees outside?

Slow Cooker Cashew Chicken

Now you can enjoy this amazing Cashew Chicken without ever leaving your nice, cool air-conditioned house. I’d like to send out a big hug to Alyssa from The Recipe Critic blog for perfecting this amazing dish. Bon Appetit!

Thanks for spending a bit of your Sunday with me; have a great week and I will see you next weekend.

Believe by Riikka Kovasin

What’s not to love about this sweet layout, it’s so soft and feminine, and perfect to support the priceless black and white photo. Riikka truly is the queen of fine detail; how creative to use Gelatos instead of ink to stamp the hearts in the background.

Sorry You’re Feeling Blue by Sharon Harnist

This arty card is sure to lift anyone’s spirits; it’s so sweet. It was this beautiful water colored background that first caught my eye. The watery background for the hippo was created using Sharon’s Copic Watercolor Background technique.
