Sundays With Lorraine

Good day, my crafty friends, and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper! It’s really hitting home that our 2017 Stamp & Scrapbook Expo season is coming to an end, I just can’t believe that we only have 5 shows left in the year. 2017 seems to be flying by in the blink of an eye! Can you believe it’s almost mid-September? I am extremely thankful that we have Weekly Scrapper to inspire each other throughout the entire year!

On The Beach Layout By Mickie Sutcliffe

It’s time to get those priceless summer photos off your phone and into your scrapbook. I can’t think of a better way to pay tribute to a wonderful summer than to scrapbook those amazing memories.  Do you use your stamps and stencils in your scrapbooks? I hope so. It’s a great way to personalize your backgrounds while getting the exact look you’re going for.

If I know you like I think I do, you already have a pretty large selection of stamps that you’ve collected, so why not use them?  I know it’s hard for some of us old time scrappers to think about stamping on layouts since back in the day (10+ years ago) stamps were mostly used on cards & tags. Many scrapbookers never really used them on layouts. How silly we were back then, since all paper crafters share the same tools and supplies, we are all one big creative happy family. I hope this artsy layout has inspired you to create that next page in your scrapbook.

Follow Your Dreams By Tina Dornbaum

This is one of those cards that automatically puts a smile on your face. It’s time to break out those new Distress Oxides that you’ve been itching to play with. That’s how Tina created this beautiful background. Once the background is dry, you then cut two frames using Elizabeth Crafts Stitched Rectangle (the largest and the medium).  This is definitely a must have die set! I use it all the time; you get seven different sizes which covers just about any size you could possibly need. Talk about bang for your buck.

To create those whimsical butterflies, Tina applied texture paste through an Elizabeth Craft  “A Way With Stencils – Butterflies and Stars.”  While the paste was still wet she added White Silk Microfine Glitter over the butterflies, allowing it to dry before removing the excess glitter. For complete details on how easily this adorable card comes together, click here and I will be happy to escort you over to spend some creative happy time with Tina on the Elizabeth Crafts Blog.  You’ll be glad you did!

When We Love We Grow Canvas By Jenny Marples

To create the focal point (the house) Jenny used the Eileen Hulls House Pocket Die. At the risk of being called an enabler, I’m thinking this is another one of those “need it in your life” die sets. In case you didn’t notice, this is one of those stitchlit dies, which means if you want to create a 3-dimensional project to sew, the holes are already die cut for you making your sewing project a breeze. The die cut set comes with nine dies that you can mix and match allowing you to create all kinds of fun projects.

Big hugs to Jenny for sharing this beautiful piece of art with us. If you would like to follow along as Jenny shares step-by-step instructions and some great photos click here and I will take you over to her blog Pushing The Right Buttons. Happy crafting!

Roasted Red Pepper Pasta With Shrimp By Knorr

If you are looking for a quick and easy dinner that you can throw together in well under 1/2 an hour, then you are going to love this 15-minute pasta dish. The original recipe calls for medium shrimp but I like to use the large shrimp. You can also substitute chicken if shrimp isn’t your favorite. Either way, dinner is on the table in 15 minutes and all is good with the world.

For a complete list of ingredients be sure to stop by the Knorr food blog, they even have some tasty meatless recipes. It’s ok to take a few shortcuts in the kitchen and a big shout out to Knorr for showing us how it’s done.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have an amazing week ahead of you!. I highly recommend taking a minute or two to visit the individual blogs I have shared today so you can check out all the fine details on how these wonderful projects were created. Hugs to all!

Saturdays With LeAnn

Thinking Of You

Welcome back to Weekly Scrapper on this beautiful Saturday!  It is so hard to believe we are already at the end of May. Time flies by so fast, and because of that… we really need to enjoy a little bit of time for ourselves.  I hope you will take some time and be inspired today to head right to your craft room, start creating, and enjoy the things you love to do!  I hope you have a fabulous Saturday!

Layout Three Ways By Shizuka Hirano

One layout can look many different ways by the use of color, embellishments, and textures. It is so fun to create a layout that expresses your personality.  When creating for others you may use a totally different technique.  The first layout today is clean and simple.  It doesn’t have a lot of texture added to it but is still so sweet and beautiful.

Layout Three Ways

Adding some texture and color to the same layout can really create a different look.  For the second layout Shizuka added some texture using BoBunny Fancy Flourishes stencil and New Pentart Stencil Paste.  Shizuka added some diluted acrylic paint slightly using a paint brush and this definitely gave some texture and color.

Layout Three Ways

If you are one that really likes texture then this third layout will be your favorite.  Shizuka stacked chipboard and cut flowers with added Pearlescents.  Glitter paste gave it a fun sparkle and gesso was applied to add a soft impression.

Layout Three Ways

Depending on the type of layout you love, all these simple additions can be achieved.  We all know how much texture and dimension adds to a layout.  Shizuka’s layout is full of all kinds of beautiful elements – she has such a great way of giving layouts a nice contrast.  Let me take you on over to BoBunny’s blog where you can find all of the products you will need to start your own layout.  Take some time while you are at BoBunny’s blog to see many more beautiful creations.  You will certainly leave feeling very inspired!

Thinking Of You By Catherine Cowles

Whether you are scrapbooking, making cards, using mixed media, or any other paper craft, it is so fun to work with the Lattice Frameworks die from Tim Holtz.  It will add a fun vintage embellishment for your project.  You can create a very distinctive background using various artistic elements just by using the shape as a repeating pattern, or smaller die-cuts for accents. Combine both for unlimited mixed-media possibilities!  Catherine Cowles certainly created a masterpiece with this technique.

Thinking Of You

You know me, I always go crazy over a creative and different background!  You can always create a spectacular background by using ink sprays, mists, gesso, embossing paste, and stencils.  I hope you have been inspired to add a little extra to your projects.  Click here and I will take you over to Daydreams In Paper where you can follow along with Cathie as she shares exactly how she created this beautiful card.  Cathie always has so many wonderful projects and you will always be lifted up by her talent!

Favor Box By Audrey Pettit

What a great party favor gift; you can even add your favorite candy!   I can see using this die for baby and bridal showers.  I am always trying to find a cute way to wrap up jewelry and this is certainly the fun box for that.  This die makes the cutest little favor box ever!  You will love how easy they are to put together.  I just love the shape of these, and they are a great size for any number of small treats and gifts.

Favor Box

These favor boxes are so fun to dress up and easily to match any theme or event.  Add a personal tag as an accent to your box.  You will put smiles on so many faces!  Come with me on over to Audrey Pettit Designs where you will find all the materials you will need to create these adorable boxes.  You will have so much fun you won’t know when to stop!  Have fun creating, my friends!

Cannoli Cream Dip By Dorothy Kern

Five ingredient easy homemade cannoli dip takes only 15 minutes to make.  Cannoli filling, in my opinion, is like an Italian cheesecake.  If you think about it, cannoli dip is an easier way to eat the Italian dessert.  There is no chance of the filling falling out of the back end, or the shell crumbling when you take a bite.

Cannoli Cream Dip

This would be a perfect dip for a birthday party, a holiday party, and even a game night with friends. It is a fabulous no bake summer recipe.  The possibilities are endless!  A couple dips with a wafer cookie will easily satisfy any sweet craving!  Get your paper and pencil ready because this is a recipe you won’t want to miss!  Click here and I will take you over to Crazy For Crust where you will find the easy directions by Dorothy Kern.

I hope you enjoyed today’s projects and that you have been inspired to begin your weekend crafting.  Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have an amazing week ahead of you.  I will see you next Saturday and I’ll have some more fun things to share!

Saturdays With LeAnn

Hands Of Time

I hope today you are taking some time to relax and enjoy your weekend.  Since it is cold outside, go grab yourself a cup of coffee, tea, or even a good old mug of hot chocolate.  I want you to sit back, relax, and enjoy the inspiration I have to share with you on this beautiful Saturday!

Dream Passionately By Cathy Cafun

How do you come up with your ideas to start layouts?  For me, inspiration usually comes from sifting through photos, which I love to do.  When I stumble across the ones I want to use, I usually come up with some quick ideas for starting a layout.  One of my favorite go-to ideas is using chipboard; its a great way to add some dimension to your layout.  This ultra-sweet layout was created by Cathy Cafun using some Dusty Attic chipboard. Using frames is a great way to draw the eye to your photos.  Other favorite techniques of mine when using chipboard include painting along with adding glitter, stickles, texturizing elements, and so much more.

Dream Passionately

What a wonderful design Cathy created, and her details are perfect.  Don’t you just love how she tied all the chipboard pieces together using flowers?  Cathy’s combination of pastels are glorious and makes us hopeful that spring is not that far away.  Click here and I will be happy to escort you over to the blog “Cathy Can’t Help Herself” where you will be thrilled with all the inspiration! While you are visiting Cathy’s blog be sure to check out all of the other beautiful layouts she has to share.

Hands Of Time By Brenda Brown

This beautiful masterpiece can be used for a home decor piece or a beautiful card to brighten up someone’s day.  I love the texture that was created using gesso, modeling paste, and your favorite stencil.  You can always create a spectacular background by spritzing with ink sprays, mists, or color wash.  You know me, I am a big fan of creative and different backgrounds.

Hands Of Time

Brenda created this on a 5 X 7 canvas board.  There is nothing more exquisite than a handmade decor piece for your home.  This distinctive canvas is definitely the proof of what one can do when you open up your imagination.  I would like to send out a big thank you to Brenda Brown for sharing this beautiful and unique masterpiece with us.  Let me take you over to Bumblebees And Butterflies where you can find a list of supplies along with the steps of how Brenda created her canvas.  Be sure to stop by her blog anytime you need a burst of inspiration.

Headboard To Chalkboard By Christy James

Chalkboards are a versatile tool that come in so handy at home.  They can come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and styles to fit the needs of multiple users.  Today I have to share with you one of the most unique and fun chalkboards I have ever seen.  I totally fell in love with this and so will you.

Headboard to Chalkboard

Christy found this fun old headboard at a thrift store for only $10.00.  It is amazing how you can find great treasures at the thrift store; and so inexpensive as well.  Who would have ever thought of a headboard turning into a useful chalkboard?  I also love the added hanging hooks to add a little more function.  This is one project I can’t wait to get started on.  I have the perfect spot in my home for it.  I know you are dying to make this as well, so come with me over to Confessions Of A Serial Do-It-Yourselfer where you will get step-by-step instructions by Christy.  You will want to jot down some notes and what supplies you will need.  With a little help from Christy, you will be able to create this adorable chalk board in no time. This will be one fun project to create!

Chocolate Toffee Buttercrunch By Christy Denney

The sweet crunch of this delicious Buttercrunch Toffee pairs chocolate and pecans for a winning combination.  This recipe requires very few ingredients and little effort, but the result is superb, making it appear as if you had slaved over a hot stove all afternoon.

Chocolate Toffee Buttercrunch

I don’t know about you, but just looking at this photo makes my mouth water.  It looks so yummy!  I can’t wait to give this one a try.  What a fun treat to have when family or friends pop over.  Let’s go on over to The Girl Who Ate Everything so you can print out your recipe from Christy Denney.  I bet this will become one of your family’s favorites!

I hope you enjoyed today’s projects and that you have been inspired to begin your weekend crafting.  I’m looking forward to sharing some more fun things with you next Saturday.  Have a wonderful week!

Saturdays With LeAnn

Thank You

Welcome to another wonderful Saturday here on our Weekly Scrapper blog!  I hope you’ve had a great week and are now enjoying some carefree time for yourself.  I am excited to share some of the great projects that I discovered this week.  I hope you will be inspired to find some creative time for yourself this weekend.

Chase Your Dreams By Sonia Thomason

As you probably know by now, I love a layout with different backgrounds; especially ones that you add your own personality to.  Just adding a splash of ink, using mediums, or even using stencils always creates a beautiful and inspiring background.  I’m also a big fan of layering.  Layering can add so much to your layout, but remember it is meant to complement your photos.  Your background should take a back seat and allow your photos to be the center stage of your layout.

Chase Your Dreams

Sonia has added some aged metallic heat embossing powders to her layout.  Using these powders really gave her layout some dimension.  With the perfect layering, flower blossoms, clocks, and metallic leaves, she really pulled this layout together so beautifully.  I fell in love with every little detail on this layout. You can see more details on how Sonia created this masterpiece at Pieces Of My Life.  Be sure to visit her blog; you will also see many more of her outstanding projects.

Thank You By Shari Carroll

I want to share a very gorgeous card created using the Circle of Leaves die.  Shari added three layers of different papers and placed them with a slight rotation so each of the layers would show.  I love the soft colors, the layering, and how elegant this beautiful card is.  How fun it is to create with different varieties of die cuts!

Thank You

I have a really hard time throwing a handmade card away, so here is a tip for you: take your card, cut it in half, and create scrapbook pages using both the outside and inside of the card. I have mine categorized by themes, such as Birthday, Christmas, etc.  It is so fun to pull out the album and look at all the wonderful talent and time put into these beautiful cards.  You can also capture your memories and take your favorite cards and recycle them into a cover of a mini album. No need to get rid of those beautiful cards, just find a new way to enjoy them!  A handmade card like this is sure to make many smiles happen. To see more of Shari Carroll’s inspirations come with me over to her blog My World.  You will be so inspired by her talent.

Simple and elegant style is what Delaina Burns gives us today with this pretty layout.  I love the white stencil lettering on white cardstock using modeling paste.  White on white portrays such a elegant look and pops out the sentiment on a layout.

Loved By You

When I find a pretty scrapbook layout, I like to be drawn first to the photos, then take in all the beautiful embellishments and details.  The extras should always complement the photos.  I give a high five to Delaina for her lovely layouts.  Creating several layers can sometimes be difficult; its not as easy as it looks.  As you can see on this layout, Delaina has a talent for layering and adding in pretty details.  I highly recommend you stop by Delaina’s blog “Delaina’s Embellished Memories” anytime you need some inspiration; you will enjoy all her beautiful projects. Pointillism Play by Heather Nichols

Are you wondering what pointillism is?  It’s an age-old painting technique where small strokes or dots of color are applied to a surface so that when viewed from a distance, they blend together.  A beautiful array of ink colors, a light touch, and a little patience are all you need to master this coloring technique.

Pointillism play

Today we have Heather Nichols showing how to take stamped images to a new level.  You will explore a new stamping technique using a polka dot stamp and other tools to apply color to the stamped image in a dot form to color them in. Layering the colored dots together creates wonderful blending opportunities. Click here and I will take you over to Heather’s full tutorial on how to do this fabulous technique.  While this technique takes some time and patience, the end results are so well worth the effort.  Be spot-on with your next coloring project by giving the pointillism technique a try.
