There is nothing like a homemade gift during the holidays. It shows those special people in your life how much you care. I loved these adorable stacking snowman boxes. I can see them filled with home made goodies. Who wouldn’t love to receive this sweet treat during the holidays. After the goodies have been enjoyed, you will still have the whimsical snowman for many years to come.
Who would have thought that this adorable snowman set started out as plain kraft colored boxes.
Start out by painting the boxes using any cream colored acrylic paint, than paint the lids green. Add a little distressing to create that warm vintage look. Add a little splatter in the same color that you used to distress. Go ahead and paint a sentiment on the bottom box. If your uncomfortable with painting words, break our your stencils or even rub on letters from your scrapbook stash. Highlight the buttons, carrot nose and his hat with white paint to give the illusion of snow. Don’t be afraid to use what you have on hand to decorate your snowman. I used an old doll hat , Splash on a little more white paint then embellished the hat with some greenery and holly berries. The ice skates were a Christmas ornament (you could also hang a pair of mittens instead of skates) . Add a strip of plaid fabric for his scarf and you can check one gift off your list..
