Veteran’s Day Thank You Card

There can never be enough gratitude for our Veterans.

Designed by Jinny Newlin

I started this card by piecing together the red, white, and blue, stripe, patterned paper with the red, polka dot, patterned paper and polka dot, embossed, ivory cardstock, which had been stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the fitting “Thank You” sentiment.

I then adhered a cardstock, glitter, sticker pennant just along the bottom edge of the red, polka dot, patterned paper and machine stitched, with brown-threaded, straight stitches around the prepped piece’s combined edges and, with brown-threaded, zig-zag stitches, between the connections, before wrapping a length of hemp twine around the top of the pennant and tying it in a bow.

Jake was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on an ink distressed, die cut, scalloped oval; colored with colored pencils and mineral spirits; and dressed in full dress uniform, which was created in the same manner as Jake himself and hand cut out, before being adhered, with foam tape, in the center of the prepped piece, just to the left of the twine bow.

Finally, I stamped the banner, in Jet Black ink, across the top of the prepped piece and filled it in with hand cut, red, circle, glitter, paper pennants, whose centers were decked out with blue gemstones, before adhering the entire piece to the Soft Suede, cardstock, card face, with foam tape, to complete the look.
