Tired of your Halloween decorations? Want to make a fun and easy craft? Today’s project you are going to learn how to make cute little spiderweb corbels to decorate your doorways. This will add some Halloween Spirit to your home.
Doilies make great spider webs and you can choose from so many designs.
Pick out some of your favorite patterns of doilies. Lay out flat and smooth out on a piece of cardboard or a dropcloth, and spray the front with black spray paint. Once it dries turn and spray the back. Let dry.
Cut your doilies into quarters.
Take bias tape and encase one side of your quartered doily. Stitch along the edge of the bias tape, snip off a little extra on the end and turn under before stitching the end.
Turn under a new end of bias tape and cover the first end enclosing the other raw side of your doily. Stitch close and turn the other end under before stitching the bottom edge. Clip all the threads.
Cut a strand of embroidery thread. With your thread and needle, sew a whip-stitch a couple of times, then on the third don’t pull down your thread all the way so it creates a loop.
Holding your loop whip-stitch another stitch or two, then finish with a knot. Repeat with the other two sides to end up with a loop on each corner for a total of three per corbels.
Now you have just made your fun Halloween Spiderweb Corbels. You are ready to hang them up and enjoy the fun decoration you have just created.
