Two Hearts => Family Tree

With the cool temperatures of Fall upon us, I thought this charming Family Tree card would make a perfect inspiration piece. I’d like to thank Melissa Phillips author of the Lily Bean Paperie blog for allowing us to share her beautiful design with you today.

I love this stamp set & coordinating cover plate from Papertrey Ink titled Mighty Oak. These sets are perfect for welcoming in the Fall Season, but for many other occasions as well. This is one of those versatile must have sets. The possibilities are endless. You can use them on cards, tags, or a family tree scrapbook layout just to name a few.

Melissa began by using the Mighty Oak Cover Plate and a paper bag. She used spray adhesive and adhered a panel of the paper bag to a panel of cardstock, both cut the same size, in order to create a sturdy base. Then ran them through the die cut machine.

Before adhering the die cut Cover Plate to the Vintage Cream cardstock base, Melissa stamped leaf images from the Mighty Oak stamp set using silver and gold embossing powder and used the die cut Cover Plate as her guide, then stamped the images so they’d show through the openings. Then adhere your die cut Cover Plate. Perfection 😉

Melissa used the Mighty Oak Cover Plate a second time using vellum and adhered a few of the leaves, slightly askew to add interest and dimension. The sentiment was stamped on a Tremendous Tag using Vintage Cream cardstock, and then a Tremendous Tag cut from vellum was placed over the top to create softness. She used the Coffee Cozy Details die and Vintage Cream felt to create a heart that would tie in with the sentiment.
