With the holidays right around the corner, my thoughts are drifting towards what am I making for those special people in my life. I think home-made gifts around the holidays add a fuzzy element to that special time of year. I discovered this beautiful journal set on The Amazing Paper Grace Blog, Thank you Becca for allowing us to share your beautiful project.
On today’s project Becca used a fun set from JustRite Papercrafts titled Filigree Journal Covers and Mix and Match Sentiments to create this beautiful matched set of journals. Of course the filigree frame works well on cards & our scrapbook layouts too (great for hidden journaling). Coincidentally, it matches the other filigree stamps that Becca designed earlier. The Vintage Alphabet Soup Background works out well as a background on the journal covers because it’s easy to line up the non-overlapping background for a continuous pattern. Each book has a different title, one is titled Stamp Journal, Technique Journal, Quote Journal and Ink Journal. What a great way to keep our creative minds organized, this isn’t always an easy task :).
Since school just started everyone has those inexpensive composition notebooks for 2 for a $1.00 . Cover them with stamped paper on the front, back and solid paper on the spine. For the holder, Becca recycled a cereal box and covered the sides with paper and used stamped panels for the short sides of the box. The Spellbinders Filigree Frame is stamped on a square-cut mat using Spellbinders™ Classic Squares LG and mounted on a panel cut using Spellbinders™ 5×7 Matting Basics A and the bottom shaped using Spellbinders™ A2 Bracket Borders One. The books are roughly 7.5″ x 9.5″.
This project is quick, easy and very affordable. I know I have several sets on my list for the holidays.
