Believe Canvas

I discovered this adorable home decor piece on Monique’s Vintage Nest Blog. I highly recommend stopping by for a visit you’ll be glad you did. It all began with a blank 8″ x 8″ canvas.

Monique started out by inking the edges of the canvas then began laying down the background. After creating the pocket that holds all the fun tags she covered each tag with patterned paper & adhered some metal knobs. Love how she tied a bow out of thread around each knob. Each tag was hand cut a different size which adds to the charm of this sweet project.

Next Monique cut a doily in half & placed half on the bottom right corner of the envelope & the other half on the inside. Now for my favorite part the embellishing, begin by adhering some vintage trim along the top of the envelope, don’t you love how the lace softens the edge? The wooden word “believe” was painted and then the edges were inked. Most of the flowers are made of paper with the exception of the one ribbon flower in the center.

The darling doll image was stamped on to patterned paper & pieced together.  Monique finished it off with some resin flowers, pearls and the pennant at the top is just cut out using the Prima paper.  The butterfly was also cut out from the paper as well as using a punch for the smaller ones.  Add some rhinestone trim and your project is complete!

I hope that you have been inspired to break out a blank canvas and create you own one of a kind work of art.

Thanks for the visit. My wish for you is to be fearless when it comes to your creativity, to be brave enough to try new techniques but most important to have fun with your art.
