Doily Design Chair

Do you have one of those old chairs hanging around your home?  Is it an antique, or maybe a family heirloom you just can’t part with?    This is a great way to turn that old chair into a real treasure and still keep it around but looking beautiful.  Remember one person’s trash is another person’s treasure.

Doily Design Chair

Start this project with an old chair.

Clean the chair off really good.  You don’t need to even sand it down if you desire not to.

Tape a piece of lace curtain panel across the seat and the larger back bar of the chair.  Place it on an angle and leave some of the area plain.

Next take a can of white spray (she used flat paint) and spray carefully through the lace, making sure not to spray too heavily.  Let it dry and then remove the lace.  Next you will take flat white house paint and paint the rest of the chair white.  Use a small brush (approx. 1/8″) to edge the patterns made by the lace in turquoise paint.  You will still need to put a coat of varnish over the areas that have the design so they won’t fade while being used.  A big Thank You goes to Elise Randels for sharing this great idea with us.  Be sure to pop on over to the  Creativity in DIY: You Can Do It blog for more fun and creative ideas.
