Today’s inspiration is created by Gloria Stengel. Gloria created this beautiful card and box for the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #9 called “Fold It”. This fun fold card can also be turned into a fun mini album with a folded binding. You can make a fun fold card, a pop-up card, an explosion box, or other type of project that makes use of folded cardstock or paper.
Here are a few samples to show you
Here is what the inside of the mini book looks like all stretched out. The front and back were both decorated with eight panels total. You can place a gift card in this as well as there are two places for them.
Here are some instructions on how to make your mini folded card.
The box was created from cardstock, and using the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board.
Start with using 90# Smooth Black cardstock. Use the Stencil Girl Stitch a Doily stencil and some spray mist to make a pattern on the cardstock. You can allow the design to be a bit blotchy and messy.
To create your box, allow your cardstock to dry completely. Trim the cardstock to 9 x 9 inches. Line one edge of the casrdstock up with the 2-1/2 inch mark on the punch board, punch and score on the right”groove” of the punch board. Move the cardstock to the 4 inch mark, punch and score on the right again. Rotate the paper to the left 90 degrees, line up the little tab on the punch board with the first score line, punch and score on the right as shown above. Slide the paper to the next score line, punch and score again on the right. Repeat this for the other two sides.
Trim the “tab” from each corner.
Round the four flaps. Fold on all the score lines, and assemble the box using strong double-sided tape. (You may have to trim the two wide “flaps” a bit where they cross over on the back of the box)
Decorate the outside of your box. You can create this for any occasion.
Using a Spellbinders die template gives the box contrast. When embossed you can see how the darker layer is peeking through. To keep the envelope closed, add some chipboard circles with foam dots, and wrap them with twine.
The mini accordion album folds up and slips right into the envelope.
Trim around the misted cardstock for the inside of the flap, and add some paper strips for extra decoration.
To make the accordion album, trim smooth black cardstock to 6 x 12 inches. Score at 3, 6, and 9 inches. Then decorate each panel. Create a pocket on the third panel and stuff it with some images. The back of each image is covered with natural cardstock. You can use each image for a journaling block or for a photo. Use more of the misted cardstock to create a gift card holder on the last panel. Use pale blue and natural cardstock for the little tag.
This side of the mini has two pockets filled with images and journaling blocks. Use more of the misted cardstock to make another gift card holder for the second panel on this side. The stencil makes an amazing pattern. Spray with white mist in a heavy layer and allow it to dry. Hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration.
