My Favorite

We all have favorite pieces of clothing that become our signature, whether it’s that perfect little black dress, your favorite comfy jeans, or as showcased in this lovely layout, Riikka’s perfect leather jacket. A favorite article of clothing is an important part of your style, so why not scrap about it? What made this beautiful layout stand out were all the fun techniques that Riikka used while still having her photo take center stage. Now that’s what scrapbooking is all about.

This layout is proof that using neutral colors doesn’t have to mean boring since this layout is anything but boring! There are so many fine details and techniques. Riikka started the background by priming the paper with gesso, then used India ink to paint random swirls here and there, followed by some misting, stamping, and a bit of doodling.

The photo and patterned papers were layered and stapled together then adhered to the layout using foam squares. Twine and washi tape were added, then the focal point photo. A swirl of Prima wire was added to create more fun texture.

This is the fun part where you dive in and sort through all those treasured embellishments that we all love and collect for that perfect project. I love these little jeans buttons from Prima. They fit the theme just perfectly!

What a great layout and to think it all started with a leather jacket! I hope you’ve inspired to give some of these fun techniques a try. I highly recommend stopping by Riikka’s website Paperiliitin and check out the video where you can watch the layout being created step-by-step.

Thanks for a great visit and I wish you a very creative day!
