Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: Hi everyone! I am so excited to be joining you on the Scrapbook Expo Weekly Scrapper blog today. I live in Iowa with my husband Adam and kids Keira (6) and Connor (2). I work full time as a quality improvement nurse and am currently pursuing my masters in nursing administration. When I am not working, doing homework, or hanging out with the kids, you can probably find me scrapbooking! I have been involved in the paper crafting industry since 2006, first as a stamper and card maker. I quickly moved over to scrapbooking and now I primarily make layouts and pocket pages. I currently design for Bella Blvd, Crate Paper, and Elle’s Studio and have been fortunate to have many opportunities and make a lot of great friends!
Favorite thing to create: 12×12 scrapbook pages.
What do you love about scrapbooking? My job is pretty black and white and also has me around people all day every day. Scrapbooking is a great way for me to unplug and do something creative for myself. I also love that it’s a solitary activity – just me and some music with my paper and glue. I also love that I am documenting my kids’ lives; I think they will really treasure it someday!
5 fun facts about yourself:
1. I am a die hard coffee addict so don’t take it away from me, ever.
2. I listen to Podcasts obsessively. I have a 2 hour commute every day so I get plenty of time to do that!
3. I collect typewriters and currently have 7. My newest find was a pink one!
4. I kind of hate watching sports. Unless my kids are playing. 🙂
5. My husband and I are currently on a quest to drink every different kind of craft beer we can. So far I am up to 73 different ones!
Here is Jen’s Scrapbook Expo spotlight layout – isn’t it amazing?!
MAKE YOUR OWN MAGIC by Jen Chapin
I had a lot of fun with this layout! I knew I wanted to use the large wood veneer piece on my page so I printed off a smaller photo and kept the color palette simple using mostly white with pops of gold, blue, and pink.
SUMMER LOVE by Jen Chapin
This layout uses a large wood veneer heart piece from Crate Paper that I embellished with a summer theme. I used black and white striped paper for the background as well as a gold sequin title for a striking color combination.
SUPER COOL by Jen Chapin
Another one of my summer favorites! My son is obsessed with popsicles and I had some great photos of him so I paired them with a few 3×3 cards and some star embellishments. The title down the side adds a neat effect as well.
HELLO SIMPLE MOMENTS by Jen Chapin
This is a simple Project Life layout about my kids’ bedtime routine. I wanted to document my son’s favorite book at the time so I found a picture online and printed it small enough to add to a 3×4 card.
Thanks, Jen, for letting me spotlight you! I’ll be back next week with another feature!
