Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: I live in the almost dead center of Canada, in the chilly white north with my husband, two sons, and one princess. I am pretty busy by nature – I work full-time for the Canadian government, run my own online digital cut file store, and have been very fortunate to be on some wonderful design teams over the last several years. I started scrapbooking while my husband and I were preparing to get married. I had attended a home party and was instantly hooked! I have always loved doing crafty things and once I found scrapbooking there was no looking back for me.

Favorite thing to create: I mainly create 12×12 layouts, but I love making cards, mini albums and want to do more sewing – I just need more creative time in my life. 🙂

What do you love about scrapbooking? I honestly scrapbook for the creative outlet it provides me. It is my de-stressing tool and my chance to do something I love and get some me time. I love the people I have met along the way and the friends I have now across the globe!

5 fun facts about yourself:
1. I really dislike birds – as in, I am pretty afraid. That’s what I get for watching Alfred Hitchcock as a kid.
2. I worked for a large pizza chain for 18 years and pizza is still one of my favorite foods.
3. Most of my life I was pretty plain and now later in my life, I like girly, sparkly, and fancy things of all types.
4. I would rather stay up all night than get up early like I do every day.
5. I took AP French in high school but cannot speak a lick of French now.

Check out this stunning layout Nicole made exclusively for her spotlight:

This layout has a lot of things that I think define my “style” if I have one! I love a good pie chart, or any shape pieced together with smaller pieces of paper. I added lots of stitching detail to the pie charts, another element of my style, and added in some die cuts in the form of a title and background. I love mixing different paper lines and this was a great way to do just that, using several different ones from lovely Crate Paper.

Nerd alert

I created this as part of my social media team work for Fancy Pants Designs using a mixture of their collections. I love using smaller items to complete a page and here I mixed smaller pieces of layered paper with a mixture of die cuts and more stitching.

always remember this

Along with smaller sections of paper, I really love the quilted look on layouts, and kept that in mind when creating this page. I used some simple squares trimmed to triangles and stitched similarly to a quilt for my page. I love the bold colors and die cut title!

I created this page for National Scrapbook Day for Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine for a “tip” on creating layouts. I love using various shapes on my pages and a good circle is so easy to do like on this page. Just a few simple circle punched shapes all layered together with some chipboard and button elements make a page come together quickly and pretty simply too!

Today

This page sums up everything I love about this hobby/addiction – fun vibrant colors, texture, and a big die cut title. All my favorite things wrapped up into one page here! I try to have some photos on hand of myself as I feel it is very important to have pages all about me tucked into our family albums instead of always being behind the camera!

Amazing layouts, Nicole! Thanks for letting us get to know you better!
