Hey Scrapbook Expo friends, Becki here. Christmas is over and the quiet days of January are just around the corner. I love putting Christmas decorations up BUT I also love taking them down. I love the clean, simple feeling that comes when my Christmas decorations go back into storage. I do, however, like to have a few decorations that are Winter-themed. I wanted to create some home décor that was rustic, a bit imperfect, and just winter-themed… not Christmas.
I found this 12 x 12″ wood plank at by Jillibean Soup. It’s part of their Mix the Media collection. I gathered some paint, a paint brush, and some basic temporary white vinyl from Expressions Vinyl.
Then I cut a huge snowflake out of the white vinyl with my Silhouette Cameo. I used the negative space to create a stencil on the wood plank.
After placing the stencil on the plank I was ready to start painting. I mixed white and gold paint together. I wanted the snowflake to be a little bit imperfect and not a stark white. Also, by adding a little bit of gold paint, the snowflake has a little bit of sparkle. To make the snowflake a little imperfect I applied the paint with a thick coat and I knew it would bleed under the stencil. I love how this turned out – it was just as I wanted it to be.
Do you like to have Winter decorations or do you simply have Christmas decorations?
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and here’s wishing you wonderful New Year!
This is such an easy and effective January decoration. Thank you!
