Freebie Friday – Card Swap

Freebie Friday with Jen Walker

Hello Scrapbook Expo Friends!

Are you a card maker? Do you find yourself getting inspired by cards you see on blogs, Pinterest and online forums? Wouldn’t it be nice to see some of those cards in person and to meet fellow card makers from your local area? We thought so too!

New in 2015, the Scrapbook Expo team has added the Latest & Greatest Card Swap workshop to the schedule. You may wonder how this workshop works.  First of all, let me say that if you have ever attended a Scrapbook Expo crop, you have likely had the chance to meet the wonderfully friendly Dave! Well guess what … Dave is the host of the new Card Swap workshop as well. Lucky you!

Okay, I got a bit off track there.  So how does the Card Swap work? Imagine you are spending a busy day at the Expo filled with shopping, cropping, and learning. Wouldn’t it be nice to get a chance to rest and have a snack while continuing to get inspired and meeting some new friends? That is what this workshop is all about. Arrive at this workshop with 16 A2 sized cards (check your local workshop listing for the themes) that you have created and spend an hour enjoying and sharing! We recommend that the cards you create are the same or similar to each other. During the workshop, you will exchange up to 15 cards and one card will be used for determining prizes. Think of the card swap as being similar to a cookie exchange. You get to exchange your cards with other card makers and chat with them about their techniques, style, etc.

Latest & Greatest Card Swap

You will leave the class with the cards you have received from your fellow card makers, a Stampin’ Up card kit, one of our new jute tote bags to hold all your cards, and some new friends. And, don’t forget, a few lucky people will also leave the class with a prize!

Doesn’t that sound like fun? A rest, a snack, new inspiration, new friends, and some fun time with Dave! Count me in!

Now that I have told you all about the new Latest & Greatest Card Swap workshop, I am going to give away two admission passes to a 2015 Scrapbook Expo event of your choice. Would you like to win them? Leave a comment on this blog post telling me something about yourself.  How long have you been a crafter? Do you craft early in the morning, during the day, or late at night? I want to get to know you all better. Tell me something fun!

Last week’s Freebie Friday post was sponsored by Stampin’ Up. Thank you to everyone who commented on last week’s blog post! The giveaway was for the Love Story collection.

The winner is … Barb Macaskill!

I still consider myself a newbie, but have been scrapping for four years. I enjoy the social part of scrapping with a group of women, and when we get together, we scrap from morning until early evening.

I’ve been a crafter since I can remember. I’ve sewn, jewelry ,made cards and more. I craft anytime I can. But I haven’t crafted since February 3 when I lost my apartment to an early morning fire. I’ve passed my love of crafting to my daughter. Until recently she denied it but she’s so good at it. I got her making paper roses with the cricut first ( she enjoys portable projects to take to dialysis do ideas are great ). I’ve also gotten my grandchildren into vstd making early but giving them a card blank crayons an ink pad and any of my stamps they want. This expo is my birthday present and my way back to crafting and I’m really excited.

I’m sicking with the story that it was so”realistic” :0) !

I have been making cards for a couple of years once a month as part of a stampin’ up meet up group. I drive 3 hours round trip to go because I have so much fun! It’s worth it just to see the look on my friends’ faces when they open cards from me.

  19. Laura says:

I’ve always had a love of scrapping, starting when I was just a kid collecting stickers in a sticker book. Now with kids of my own I love creating their birthday themed invitations. I look forward to the day I can craft till the day’s end but till then I’ll enjoy the little crafts I do with my kiddos. Would love to go to this expo, have never been (which is how my husband would like it to stay, lol). A day for mom and her love of crafting!

  20. Muffin says:

I would love to win passes. I usually craft weekend mornings when the house is still quiet. I like to scrap, make cards, sew and make jewelry.

  21. Karol Leisy says:

Scrapbooking is therapy. My best friend and I have taken over a good portion of my basement to scrapbook. She has been scrapbooking for years…I started 6 years ago. I crochet also. I just started making cards about 6 months ago. I do something in my craft space every night possible. It might be cleaning up from the night before…LOL..Ok I spend every moment possible in my craft space.. I have a craft space in my basement that I share with my best friend. She leaves her paper craft items in her area and I have my area. She has just finished chemo and surgery so our crafting together has been limited this summer.. We are looking forward to Expo in Denver and we have met many wonderful people at expo and learned so much. See you in a few months!!!

  22. Bev Allen says:

I would love to come but have never been to an expo…My favorite is scrapbooking although I do some cards

  23. Julie says:

Yep- I’m a scrapaholic! Although it’s just been 7-8 years of creating, I still think I’m a newbie with all of the new techniques. Looking forward to the Minnesota expo, but winning the tickets would let me invite my mom and sister to share in our love of creativity. Pick me ✂️✂️✂️ So I can pick them 🙂

  24. Laurie Erlandson says:

I’ve been crafting since I was a kid. Mom was a crafter as well and always had supplies for me to “play” with. Loved art class in school and was always one of my electives. When I got to middle school, sewing was another elective that was available and I continued with that class all through high school. Always encouraged my daughter to be creative and now we do the same with my grandkids.

  25. Jim'sCupcake says:

I think I have been crafting all of my 50 years! My earliest memory is about age 3. I had a dresser drawer that I saved crafty type items in: which included aluminum foil bits and tinsel of the Christmas tree! I always had paper and glue in hand. I have an ornament that I made from a Styrofoam ball and left over sequins from one of those kits that were popular in the early 70″s. I wasn’t old enough to get my own kit (I am sure they were expensive), but, I put together an ornament from what my Mom and older sisters didn’t use. I still have that ornament and the wonderful memory. I love making things…just about anything.

  26. Karen Woodard says:

Oops! Almost forgot to add… I have been crafting for as long as I can remember, scrapbooking, card making for at least 20 years. But I love to try anything that looks interesting too.

  27. Cheryl L says:

I haven’t had time for anything creative lately. It’s time!! Also, I would love to attend a scrapbook expo. Fun to join others with the same interests and passions and get inspired!!

  28. Tammy Gaba says:

I would love a chance to go to a Scrapbook Expo. I’m just starting out with my daughter’s book and she is 5. Looking for great ideas!

  29. Elsa Piccinich says:

I’ve only been crafting and card making for two months and I’m really enjoying my new hobby. I especially love the cutting and assembling of the cards. Oh, and the shopping! So many pretty things to pick out. 🙂

  30. Stacie says:

I went to the card swap at the Milwaukee show and it was awesome. I got some great cards and got some great ideas. Highly recommend going to the card swap at your show!!

  31. NanBrower says:

I would love to participate in card swap. I have been making cards for past year or so. I take some cardmaking classes. Still consider myself an amateur though. Enjoyed myself at the make and takes at past expos and learned a lot.

  32. Jennifer nix says:

I have been doing scrapbooking for about 5 years off and on. I would like to be able to take my mom to one of these expos because she is a more avid crafter than me and gave me lots of my supplies.

  33. Joyce says:

I’ve been a scrapbooker by heart. My therapy is passing by craft stores and buying at least one item to add to my collection. I love checking out the different crafting and scrapbooking websites.
Scrapbooking early in the morning when the kids are asleep or late at night is my best time doing beautiful stuff.

  34. Loretta Soringer says:

I have been making my own cards for over 10 years. I used a software program to design with and than one day I was introduced to Stampin’ Up and have been a Stampin’ Up demonstrator for 3 year. The world of crafting is my passion and I can hardly wait to retire from my corporate career in 906 days ( not that I am counting). The first time I entered my card designs in the Los Angeles County Fair I won 5 first place ribbons and 1 was given Best In Show in the rubber stamping category. I do teach others the craft as well as sell my wares at local Artisan event. The opportunity to win two tickets to a Scrapbook Expo would be another thrill.

  35. Nancy Kupec says:

Started when I was pregnant we it my first child 13 years ago and still scrapping now and am pregnant with my 2nd child. Yay!

  36. Michele Baird says:

I have always been a crafty person but never really considered myself a “hobbist” until about a year ago. I cannot get enough of it. One day I after seeing all the facebook tags of “Habby Birthday” , I thought “Wow does no one send cards anymore” and it was then I decided that everyone was going to get not only a card but a homemade card. Something with a little time and effort, some thing that was not just I am thinking of you but I care. This opened the craftiness door and within a couple of weeks I was turning a whole room in the house to the craft room in order to keep the craftiness from exploding all over the house. 🙂 I have been teaching myself many new techniques from blogs all over the internet world and simply by trial and error. I find myself wandering the hobby stores at lunch, just for something to do. I learned about the Expo a couple of months ago and had no idea that something like that occurred. I am really excited that it will be coming to town in October and am hoping to attend.

  37. Mary says:

I’ve been card making since 1998. I started scrapping after attending an Expo a couple years later. I love all things artsy! I write (mostly poetry), paint, up cycle furniture, decorating but mostly papercraft! Thank you for the opportunity to attend the Expo! It’s been many years!

  38. Jenni says:

I’ve been paper crafting for about 15 years. Nowadays I get more cards done than anything else due to time but still love it all. My favorite time to get crafty is in the evening. I have never been to an expo and would love to have the opportunity, seems that it would really get the creative juices flowing. Thanks!!

  39. Iliana Martinez says:

Amazing! I love Scrapbook Expo. I was this year in Orlando and have plans to repeat it next year. Thanks!

  40. Ivette Aviles says:

Im a scrapbooker for over 10yrs, been away from my scraproom for some time, just getting back. I enjoy card making, this swap sounds just great..
Love shopping and learning at expos.. Hope to win, and meet new people. Thanks

  41. Sandi Frischen says:

I’ve been crafting for years but only started scrap booking and card making about 10 years ago. I’m retired so I usually craft during the day. Working on a scrapbook for my great-nephew right now. He’ll be one in September. Expecting a great-niece in January. Did one for the other great-nephew who is now 3-1/2. I’m very fortunate to still have my Mom (she’s 82) and she scrapbooks with me!

  42. Eileen B. says:

I can’t even remember when I started crafting. I remember my aunt teaching me how to crochet and that was the beginning of it…went on to try many other crafts. Right now my favorite crafts are paper crafts.
Would love to win a pair of tickets as my daughter and I will be going to the Somerset Expo.

  43. Karla says:

I have been a stamper and a scrapbooker for over 25 years. I mostly stamp at night and late into the night while the house is quiet and dark. I call it my therapy. Thanks for a chance to win tickets to the Expo!

  44. Angie says:

My mom and some of my girlfriends are huge fans of the expo! Our favorite booth is Shoestring Productions! We get so excited about shopping that sometimes we get separated so my mom gave us all colored crowns to wear. It makes us easier to spot and we have received many compliments at the last few shows!

  45. Laurie says:

I love the idea of the card swap, except I am so new at this my cards still don’t look like I envision them when I start. But I am having fun working on different ideas. I have never been to an Expo, so would love to win two tickets.

  46. Jaime Sunshine says:

This will be my 1st Scrapbook Expo & I can’t wait for it to get here. I have been scrapbooking for 12 years. Unfortunately due to health issues, I’m not always able to craft, but when I feel good enough I do. I love making cards & stamping. Sharing the love I have for it with others brings me so much joy. Over the years due to life I’d have to take time off. Between a divorce, internal bleeding for 3+ months due to a botched surgery & life in general, I couldn’t scrapbook or didn’t have the mojo to do so. But I’d still look at clearance items & bought stuff through the years. Now, I have so much stuff, I didn’t even know I had! So, I’ve been saving my pennies so when the Expo is here, I can literally shop & crop until I drop!!

  47. Melanie Harnacke says:

I have 2 sets of friends that I scrap with. One of my friends is a busy mom of 2. She and I get together once a month, and it’s her chance to get out of the house and work on her Project Life albums. I also drive about 2 hours to visit friends back home once a month. We bring food, set up tables in the living room, plug in the cricuts, and get to work on our projects. We have a great time!

  48. Amber Johnson says:

My co-worker got me into card making in 2009. Now I have my own craft room! I love to papercraft, and even my hubby asks me to make cards because people love them so much. His only pet peeve is that I’m a disorganized crafter.

  49. Claudia Parrington says:

I consider myself to be an experienced crafter. I have been scrapbooking for over 10 years but I think I learn something new everyday. Can’t wait for the expo in Somerset!!

  50. Diana says:

I would love two free tickets th the Expo…..pick me, it’s my birthday !!! Great present

  51. Sarah Mahon says:

I have been a paper crafter truly since I was a child. It is a hobby that I have always enjoyed. Cards, stamping, scrapbooking, planner deco, home decor, you name it. I do my most productive work during the day. Can’t wait for the Denver Expo!

  52. Robin M says:

I’ve always been a crafter. I started scrap booking 15 years ago. Looking forward to the Mesa Expo for an inspiration kick start!

  53. Deb G says:

I’be always wanted to attend the show in the fall in Illinois but always a time excuse. It seems like that is always my issue when attempting to craft. I won’t even say how behind I am on my college sophomore’s childhood books! I love to ‘create’ when I can. This workshop looks so cool!

  54. Gabriella Rollins says:

I’ve been scrapbooking for over 15 years, and recently getting into card making. I’ve been to the Ontario and Anaheim expos, and can’t wait to go again! I scrap with friends a lot, and often invite them to my mountain cabin for a scrap weekend.

  55. Barbara Carlson says:

I have been scrapping for probably 20 years though my talent is on the low end. I enjoy it and that is what matters. I got into card making a little over a year ago and really enjoy that. I have never attended a scrapbook expo but it sounds like it would be loads of fun. If I go it will probably be just to browse the vendors. Hubby has agreed he will bring me and he will not want to sit through workshops and budget really won’t stretch to accommodate that cost any way.

  56. Krista D. says:

I have been crafting as long as I can remember, but really expanded my abilities about 12 years ago through local classes & haven’t stopped since! if I could craft all day and night, I would! However, I typically craft in the early morning or late at night (toddlers make crafting hard, so nap time/bedtime is when I craft). I would love to win 2 passes! Last year was my first scrapbook expo and I had such a blast that my girlfriends and I flew to Southern California in March for the expo this year. I am counting down the days until the Sacramento expo! Looking forward to finally trying some classes and the crop! 🙂

  57. Barbara L.. says:

It all started 15 years ago, I was invited to a Scrapbooking Party at a friend’s home. I bought a small paper cutter and some pens. Then I needed paper, and scissors, stickers, and punches. Then came dies and cutting machines….oh crap I am addicted.

  58. Teresa Romprey says:

I have never been to one of the expos. It sounds like lots of fun. Would love to take my friend to one for her birthday in August. Thanks for all the wonderful ideas on this site.

  59. Alysia Keller says:

I’m just a beginner and craft primarily for fun due to working a full time job. I find inspiration everywhere and try to create beautiful things using paper. Add of right now I only make cards but i love it so much. I’m sower excited to be attending my FIRST SCRAPBOOK EXPO EVER! I’m very excited to learn so many new things and techniques and hope to someday start a side business doing what I love.

  60. Debbie Clever says:

I have been scrapbooking for over 52 years, and have been making cards for more than 20 years. . Love this hobby! Your Facebook daily videos are fabulous!! Dave and crew are a hoot! Have been going to scrapbook Expo conventions for many years and would love to win some tickets to take my daughter. Keep up the great work!!

  61. DanceMama says:

I have been a crafter since Brownies many years ago. Fiber arts, papercrafting, jewelry making, sewing, quilting, love it all. I make box cards and mini albums for friend’s birthdays. And a knitting project goes with me everywhere! Never been to one of your expos but I enjoy your tips and videos. Piques my interest in attending an event!

  62. Dee says:

I love scrapbooking. I find it therapeutic. I use the closet in our office ( used to serve as a bedroom) as my scrapbooking space. I feel creative in there. I would love to be able to attend the expo in Santa Clara.

  63. Jeannie Swanson says:

Thank you for the opportunity to win tickets to the Expo. I first started crafting 10 years ago when my FIL died. I made a scrabook for my husband and one for his sister.

  64. Joyce Finch says:

I would love the chance to go. I would need to save my money as I spent over $300.00 at the last one I went to.

  65. Darci Wilson says:

I’ve been crafting for about 35 years now. I do a little bit of all crafts. Beading. Crocheting. Cross Stitch. Sewing. Scrap booking. I call my crafts my therapy because I do a lot of them in the evenings to release stress after a long day. I also do them on the week ends when I just want to relax and not think about the craziness of the week I just had. I love scrap booking the most because I get to look through my photos of the past and present to select my projects and it brings back wonderful memories. I’ve not been to an Expo in a few years this would be nice to win the tickets and be able to go again.

  66. theresa brennan says:

I would love to go to the Ontario expo. I have been a card maker for years. Thank you

  71. Cyndi Gass says:

I scrapped for years and after completing 8 books I stopped. Then I found my love for mixed media art. Combining all of my scrapbook materials into wonderful new pieces to display. I just started making cards this past year and love it. I send cards weekly to my elderly aunt and mom.

  72. Carol Coleman says:

Hi Jen, my name is Carol and I started scrapbooking after I moved to Hawaii. A new friend invited me to a Creative Memories event. Arlyn became a lifelong friend. That was back in 1996 or 1997. This year, I’ve attended Pleasanton and am signed up for Santa Clara. A BFF Marisa is flying in. This will be her first expo. She is super excited. We have signed up for several classes, the mega Make n Take and the Saturday crop. Through the fb group, we have met Val and April and have a designated table for our craftiness for Thursday and Saturday. I craft when I can but that isn’t often. Right now trying to learn Cricut Explore

  73. Debbie Felix says:

A group of my girlfriends and I used to go every year but haven’t been in few years lately. I Would love to win tickets and take my Mom. She and I are starting to stamp and scrap again! We would love to see any new technics in scrapbooking and stamping. Thank you for this chance to see what we’ve been missing.

  74. Pamela Flumerfelt says:

I’ve been crafting since forever. From sewing Barbie clothes in the 60’s, decorating baskets with lace in the 80’s, scrapbooking albums while my daughter was growing up in the 90’s and now creating jewelry, cards, canvas art, etc. I love it all. We moved recently so now I’m trying to figure out where to set up my crafting space. I also meet with friends one night a week where we create new things and have fun. I’ve never been to a Scrapbook Expo. Hoping I can go to the Ontario event.

  75. Lisa Torres says:

I have been papercrafting over 20 years and love the variety of products available now! I look forward to the expo in October 🙂

  76. Rose says:

Thanks for the additional info on the card exchange. I was wondering how that would work.

I have been scrapbooking since 1998 and attending the expos since maybe 2000. When I first attended, I went to the expo and crops alone.

I scrap at about 10 crops a year. Many are local organized by a friend. I also travel to 3-4 crops, one out of state.

  77. Cory Danz says:

I have been a scrapbooker for 20+ years. Got away from it for a while but now I am back into it. There are so many new and exciting products out there I never knew about. I’m like a kid in a candy shop! I’m an empty nester and turned one of the room into a craft room, woo hoo!! I would love to go the the Expo and see all the new items and ideas!

  78. Marie Quinones says:

Would love to go! I’ve only been to the shopping floor once. Starting all over again as a PL scrapper!

  79. Debbie Schlacter says:

Scrapping is soooo therapeutic for me- always has been! Much of my daily work involves unhappy people with health crisis, up to and including death, that I find scrapbooking/card making/paper crafting such a release! Who needs therapy when you have paper and scissors??? My work partner and I attend the Ontario convention annually and scrap til Dave shuts the doors on us! Our husbands think we’re nuts, but we call it therapy!! Thanks for always making the conventions the best!

  80. eunice says:

Been scrapping since before it was am actual hobby! Not as much time now with a1 year old. Love SBE.

  81. Bethany says:

Most of my friends have given up traditional scrapbooking and gone digital. I miss the crops, but I still love working with paper! I think the paper albums are more interesting to look at too. Feeling old school but I don’t care.

  82. Judy says:

I’ve been scrapping for 11 years and stamping for the same amount of time. I love the Expo because it gives m so much uninterrupted time to work on my projects. This workshop sounds wonderful.

  83. Julie Paloscio says:

Love the Expo, looking forward to September 12 in NJ. We need more of these Expos in or near New York!

  84. morgain says:

I started my very first scrapbook album for the Winter 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics! After I attended, I made a CM album and I was off and running ever since. A few months ago I added cardmaking to my arsenal of interests as a way to give back to the ‘Chemo Angels’ program by making and sending homemade cards, as a card angel, to those going thru chemo. What a great way to continue to use and expand my skills while having a blast and giving back. I can’t wait to attend the workshop hopefully!

  85. Irene Grau says:

Thanks for the giveaway. I’ve enjoyed attending past shows and always look forward to the next one!

  86. Stacie Skillings says:

Hello this will be my very first Scrapbook Expo. i have seen the ads for them in the past in the magazines I get and prayed and wished they would come closer to Maine. My wish finally came true. I have been making cards for about 5 years now and I love learning new techniques. When I am crafting alone it is usually in the middle of the night. With a friend we start in the morning and finish that afternoon. I still consider myself a beginner because I am not NEARLY as talented as some of you. But I am learning. This Expo is important to me because 2 of my friends are going with me. Something fun about me is I love camping. I also love singing. But most of all I am working on my book. Can’t wait to see you all in Sept!

  87. Pat Major says:

Always look forward to Scrapbook Expo in our area. The inspiration from new ideas and techniques, excitement of new supplies and materials, fun with make & takes and camaraderie from meeting new folks who love the same thing you do makes for a great event! Comic Con…eat your heart out! 🙂

  88. Nancy says:

I started scrapbooking when the grandchildren started arriving. I didn’t want to lose their pictures in a box like I did when my children were little. I have attended several Expos and love to see and try new ways improve my scrapbooking.

  89. Nancy says:

I am a night owl and work much better then. I have a hard time sleeping with so many ideas going through my head. I have never been to an expo and would love to go. I swap cards with various groups on Facebook, and look forward to receiving cards that showcase everyone’s talent.

  98. bai xiong says:

  102. Suzanne says:

I’ve been creating for many years. I love all types of projects, but my favorites right now are mixed media and scrapbooking. I’m in the process of making up a mini album tutorial. It will be my first. Inspiration comes at any and all times.

I would love to attend the expo!! I have been a scrapbooker for 8 years and I just started making cards with my mother. I usually craft at night when my daughters and grandson are sleeping, it is so peaceful!! I have never been to the expo, I tried to go last year did not have the funds. By winning the tickets it will help me to buy more things for 2 scrapbooks that I am making for my grandchildren. My daughter passed away in October and I am making books dedicated to their mother since they are 2 yrs and 4 yrs, showing how much she loved them and how she touched so many lives. The classes sound like so much fun too!!

  111. Bobbie Kline says:

I have been a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator for over 7 years and a stamper for about 2 years before that. I’m a night person so I do most of my stamping in the evening. Unfortunately I have small crafting space which means a lot of things from my desk end up on my bed then I have to move it around when I finally go to bed.

  112. Amanda Curtis-Vallin says:

I’ve been scrapbooking for 15 years now! One of my best friends Jennifer and I love scrapbook shopping and scrapbooking together! Scrapbook expos are always lots of fun, we are hoping to make it to the October Ontario,Ca expo!!

Scrap booking became my new ‘everything’ when I was diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy in 2007. I love creating pages for my grandson’s scrapbook and always find a reason to snap a pic so I can save the moment in time. My favorite books have come from vacations with loved ones. Hmmmm, maybe a scrapbook of a ‘scrapbook expo’ after winning tickets will be my next project! Ohhhh, I can only imagine all the pics and things that would go in there. Let the planning begin! Pick me, pick me!!

  117. Marie says:

This sounds like so much fun to swap cards at the Ontario Srcap Expo. I would love to be part of this event. I’ve been scrapbooking for 20+ years and making cards close to 10 years. Always loving to learn and create new stuff or combine new and old techniques. Looking forward to the event

  118. Maureen Mieszala says:

I LOVE this idea and have signed up for it at the Schaumburg, IL EXPO! I’m looking forward to it so much! I’ve been making cards for about 25 years and I tend to craft in the evening, due to that “social-killer,” called work! Thanks for this opportunity.

  119. Kathleen says:

I have been scrapbooking for about 15 yrs and making cards for about a year or so. I am not proficient in either but love doing them. I would love to go to an Expo, and would bring my sister. We usually scrap together and have great fun making pages and cards.

  120. Daniella says:

Would love to win this.. Didn’t get to go to the one in my area this year and really missed out on all the fun..

  121. Ruth Regas says:

I have been a scrapbooker for the last 20 years. A couple years ago I switched to digital scrapbooking and thought well since I have so much “stuff” left from scrapbooking I should make cards. So now I make cards and that has lead to a whole other creature. I have now added to my collection of “stuff” rather than used it up. But I LOVE it all. I tend to work more at night just because I am a night person. I do attend twice a year weekend crops that we work all day and into the night for three days.

  122. Nina says:

My Mom says I’ve been crafting since I was 3. I craft all day long anytime I can get. Im a Mom to 4 and my husband supports my habit…im lucky that way. Ill be traveling to Mesa AZ from Tucson to attend!

  123. Terry M. says:

I have been scrapbooking for over 20 years. Life has been so busy I haven’t had time lately to sit and crop but when I do it seems like it was just yesterday that I did. It is so relaxing and enjoyable for me.

I started scrapbooking all of the dogs my family fosters because I want to remember them when the go to their forever homes!

I would love to go and see what is new in the land of Stamping! I have stamped for about 10 years. But after I moved I lost my Stampin partner and I have lost my will to stamp! I want to get back into it but need help with ideas! The stamping workshop would be a great way for me to get back into stamping!

  126. Sherri says:

I’ve scrapbooked faithfully since 2008 when my FIL was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Past couple of years I have made birthday cards for family and church family. Loved the Scrapbook Expo in Pennsylvania last year. Would like to make it to New Jersey this year. So many fun ideas and techniques. Thanks for the opportunity to win admission tickets.

  127. Cathy says:

I love this idea! I’m a total card swap junkie! I just celebrated 10 years as a Stampin’ Up! demo, and love teaching classes and sharing tips and ideas with my customers and other SU demos. I also have a full-time job, so my crafting time is limited to weekends and evenings. But it’s wonderful to come home and shake off the stress of the office by playing with paper and listening to my tunes in my craft room.

  128. Kerri Barnim says:

I think this is an awesome idea. I have been crafting since I was a kid but started to make cards about 2 years ago. Would love to get some tips from those who have been making cards longer and to get inspired to create more.

  129. Marie R says:

I attended a cardmaking evening with a scrapbooker friend a few years ago and got hooked. I work full time, so what my husband and daughter call my “card therapy” is evenings and weekends. Cardmaking is the perfect craft — make them and give them away! The creative juices have really been flowing lately — I keep waking up at night with more ideas. I also teach yoga on weekends.

  130. Kathy says:

I have been crafting for about 25 years. I love scrapbooking and card making the most. I have been able to attend the last two Expos and have loved every minute of them. I can’t wait for this year’s to get here!! My friends and I will spend the entire two days. We love Dave. I think this card swap is a great idea. I’m a teacher so I get most of my scrapbooking done over the summer. I plan two big crop weekends a year with my friends. The Expo is one of them.

  131. snazzy jj says:

I am so looking forward to seeing you guys in just 2 weeks. I’ve told all of my friend about this great expo and have been forwarding your great blog descriptions. Hopefully we will have lots of fun Midwesterners there! Can’t wait to try this fun Dave class out too.

  132. Mary Gomez says:

Would love a chance to get to another scrapbook expo. Loved the one in Houston area last year. Was filled with great deals and inspiration. Can’t wait to see what is there this year if I win!!

  133. Joann Cornel says:

I have been making cards for over three years now. I had stumbled upon card making on YouTube and became fascinated with it and decided to give it a try….I didn’t think I had any crafting talent. After watching and learning I soon realize I have a passion for this. I belong to a shoebox share group of ladies that get together every other Friday and in another that meets every two months. I enjoy learning different techniques like mixed media on cards, and experimenting with the various coloring medium there is out there.

As for when I craft? Let’s say sometime I fall asleep thinking of the next card layout I’m going to do. Friday nights I tend to craft until the wee hours of Saturday morning just because I know I don’t have to go to work the next day.

Thank you for the opportunity to win some Scrapbook Expo Tickets!! I’ve gone every year for the past five years now in the Sacramento area.

  134. Felicia Vikrey says:

  141. Corinne Mueller says:

I love card-making. I’ve been a crafter pretty much all my life. I enjoy scrapbooking and rubber stamping. My favorite is vintage card-making and love to see all the doilies and embellishments on a card. I enjoy it when someone says they really like my cards and keep them on display. I like to craft on weekends and can’t wait for the work week to end to I can devote my two days full of crafting. I have a craft room with all my supplies (I turned my master bedroom into the craft room and I use my spare room to sleep in.) I spend more time in my craft room than anywhere else in the condo. I can’t wait to see swaps at the next expo!

  142. Diane Green says:

I would LOVE to go to an expo!!
I have been crafting (thank you mom ) since I was a kid. Lol all I want to do now is retire and craft all day. I started at a young age crocheting n knitting, macrame, drawing, cake decorating and candy making, dabbed in scrapbooking (Creative Memories), and sewing. The kids are out of the house now and I’m creating again. Mostly scrapbooking and cards. I love to incorporate sewing on paper. Hooked BIG TIME!! cant get enough. Lol pick me, pick me!!

  143. Belinda Jackson says:

Hi I have been scrapbooking for over 25 years. How I got into it is about 25 plus years a go I realized that no one in my family had a picture of my mother who died at the age of 28 . And so did any picture of her. And by this time I had children of my own. And I did not want the same thing to happen to my children. So I started making memories of me and my family and still going strong. Just call me a scrapbook junkie, but my family will have plenty of memories. Smile Belinda has a new camera : ) See you all at the Expo four days and counting. : )

  144. Jan says:

This sounds like a great idea. I love seeing other people’s work. Perhaps those exchanging cards could also provide some basic instructions.

some kind of kit. It is my favorite thing to do.

Just seeing what you post on this site gets me revved up to create!!! I’m a two year card maker and haven’t made it to an expo event yet in Florida. Looks like I will miss 2015 but maybe 2016.

  147. SUSAN MCFEGGAN says:

I absolutely love card making and my husband has helped me transform a spare room into my crafting haven. I had always made cards by my self but recently (oh my gosh it’s been 3 years already) I met a lovely group of ladies and we get together twice a month for card making and chit chat. We each design a card and make a kit for everyone in the group and sit around putting these kits together. So much fun…so much inspiration. I have never been to the Scrap Expo so this year will be my first. I’m so excited to see what its all about. The card swap sounds like alot of fun. I think I might check that out. Thanks for letting us all know about it.

  148. Barbara Trettel says:

The card swap is a great idea! I do all my card making, scrapping, etc. by myself! I especially would like someone to go
to the shows with as sometimes it gets lonely.

got to make my 16 cards!

  149. Alicia says:

I would love to win the tickets to the Expo in Mesa, AZ. I have been a card maker and scrapbooker for 20 years. It is fun and I am scrapping more during the day no that I am an empty nester, but if I get going I will paper craft late into the evening.

  150. barb macaskill says:

I have been making things for over 40 years and since I got injured in August of 2005 crafting has been my lifeline. I think I would be bouncing off the walls if I didn’t have crafting. It makes me forget about my pain if only for a few minutes and I have met some amazing people from the crafting community!!
I have never attended an expo or anything like it but would be over the moon if I won tickets so that I could attend my first one!!! Fingers crossed and thank you!

I have been crafting since I was a little girl in one way or another, but now that I have a little girl of my own I don’t have as much time, so I wake up extra early and go to bed extra late whenever I want to work on a project. I haven’t been to an expo yet but it’s on my (very short) bucket list…

  153. Paula R says:

I started card making when i quit smoking! It is such a creative outlet for me. I have my greatest epiphanies in the early morning hours- like 4 am – will craft when i find time. All day marathons work best for me when i can fit them in! I would love to participate in the card swap! Thanks for all you do

  154. Rebecca Addington says:

I have always been into making crafts but once I discovered card making, my passion took hold! I work to support my craft room….I go to the Expo every year in Sacramento, where my sister lives (I live in Oregon). I work on cards EVERY chance I get – before work, after work, my entire days off, til midnight – I live and breathe it. My sister says I’m committed (or I should be committed…!). I would love to come to the card swap, what absolute fun! I guess Stampin Up is how I got hooked – I got invited to a party and still do stamp club once a month. Love to see the girls, visit, have a snack and make cards…….sounds kinda like the card swap, right?

  155. Julie says:

I got into stamping and card making by accident. I moved to a new state and got invited by a neighbor to a Stampin Up! Workshop. I have been in love ever since

  157. Susan McMenamin says:

I have been making cards since the early days of rubber stamping in the 80’s. I love how the industry has grown and how many new and exciting techniques there are! Sharing my ideas and helping newbies learn some simple tricks makes me happy and I try to do that often.

  158. Robin says:

I’m not exactly new to crafting (prefer scrapbooking) but it’s been on the back burner for a while. So I’m a little rusty and a Scrapbook Expo would be the ideal place to get primed back up!

  159. Delia Solario says:

Been crafting for years, but had a four year hiatus while having children! Trying to go to both expos that are only an hour away!

  160. Kathy Shelby says:

My son-in-law’s mother hooked me on scrapbooking about 11 years ago. The hobby was really big then and we had lots of local scrapbooking supply stores in our area. Unfortunately, they have all closed. The only places I can find supplies are online, Michael’s, JoAnn’s, and Scrapbook Expo. I look forward to the Sacramento show and would LOVE to win tickets and take her as my guest!

  161. Liliana Landaverde says:

My future daughter-in-law and I have been making it a tradition to go to the scrapbook expo twice a year and have enjoyed the crop nights. The best part of it is has been preparing for and sharing the same hobby together surrounded by many that enjoy the craft too. Thanks for the ideas and we would love to participate in the card swap!

  162. Devynne Hauser says:

I totally still consider myself a newbie when it comes to card Making and even scrapbooking. Although I’ve been scrapbooking for quite some time now. It’s been cool seeing my scrapbooking style change over the years with my different books. As I learn new tricks and buy new tools I add new things. I would love to attend a scrapbook expo and learn even more tricks and meet new people who love doing the same thing I do!

  163. Jamie briones says:

I have been crafting for probably about 25 years 🙂 I started young! I craft at the expos or at my mommas house 🙂

  165. Marti says:

I have been scrapbooking for 15years, I started just before my youngest was born. I went to a Creative Memories Party and was hooked, why didn’t I know about this before I thought, I couldn’t believe how many pictures I had. I usually scrapbook and make cards in the evening. It relaxes me from a long day at work. I am so happy to see how my scrapbooks have evolved over the years and love to keep learning new techniques. I put together a Christmas Scrapbook a few years back that spans 20 years it is the best thing I have ever made everyone loves it. I would love to attend a class at the expo I love meeting new crafters.

  166. Andrea Valluzzo says:

I would love to win tix so I could bring my best friend. I have been scrapbooking for over 10 year. Too many distractions and things calling for my attention at home so I don’t get to a rap book there much but I get lots done at the weekend crops I go to a few times a year…

  167. Roberta Mathews says:

I’ve been scrapbooking about 2 years. My daughter Jamie got me started. Now I have stacks & stacks of paper & drawers & boxes & bins full of scrapbook things. She tells me I have a “shopping problem” & I tell her it’s all her fault, and she tells me “you’re welcome” ! So I tell her I’m spending her inheritance! We have a lot of fun & enjoy our time at the expos, where we spend all day together, her & I, sometimes along with other family members. I guess one day I should thank her!

  168. Sally G says:

Gosh, I started card making in the mid 90s. I went to a Farmer’s Market in Gainesville FL and I witnessed an embossing demonstration using a hair dryer. I was mesmerized! I hotfooted it to Michaels and bought a stamp and some embossing powder and ink and I have been hooked ever since. I stamp at all hours of the day and night. I often get stuck on the final arrangement or the right embellishment to pull it all together, so I have learned to just walk away or go to bed. The next day it always comes together for me as my subconscious gets to work on the challenge. Even I’m surprised how often it comes together differently than my original plan

  169. Jen Steinmoeller says:

I have been scrapping for about 7 years now but part of that I was in school and didn’t have much time for it” now I am scrapping during nap time while I am on mat leave but usually I am a night time scrapper! I would love a chance to go to an expo!

  170. Lynn says:

I got hooked on scrapbooking and card making after watching a demo 20 years ago- haven’t been able stop since! I have been to the scrapbook expo the last 2 years and have had this years event on my calendar for months. I am planning on bringing my Mother-in-law to her first expo! I have gotten her hooked too!

  171. Deena Morris says:

Been a card maker/stamper for about 10 years, but have been a scrapbooker too for about 5 of those years. I am most crafty on the weekends… morning noon and night… LOVE the Scrapbook Expo when it is here in Phoenix! I have a friend that I go with to all the local events.

  172. Mary M. says:

I haven’t been to a scrapbook expo in years. I need to get back in the groove. Winning 2 free tickets would get me there.

  173. Misty says:

I host a monthly card swap on my Martha Wannabe meet-up group, but it’s usually 3-5 of us. 15 would be grand! It would be nice to have someone else tell ME what the theme is too! Looking forward to attending the Ontario, CA Expo. I’ve only been to Anaheim location.

  174. Michelle Hansen says:

One of my daughters graduated in 2013 and her grandmother and I made her a scrap book. You have to understand, I went along with the idea thinking my mother-in-law would be doing most of the work as I did not think I had a creative bone in my body. Well, Mary Hansen, my mother-in-law, created a crafting junkie. I like making cards the most and am entering my first craft show this November! It is my therapy and I enjoy making things for others. My husband loves it and all the kids come to me when they need a card for their friends. My favorite time for crafting is summertime while camping. My husband turns our screen tent into my craft room and what a joy it is creating while being surrounded by nature!

  175. Laura Rurka says:

I would love to win, I am planning on attending the Expo in Schaumberg in August. I could use the saved money from not having to purchase tickets to buy MORE new and EXCITING products. Thank you

  176. Tania Cabrera says:

  180. Kathy says:

I have heard so many good comments about The Scrapbook expo. I have always wanted to attend and now I see there is one in Massachusettes and would really love to attend. Winning free tickets would make it all the better. I have been scrapbooking for about 15years. And would love to learn new techniques and shop for new products.

  181. Mindy S says:

I have been a card maker for around 6 years. My sister introduced card making to me where I instantly fell in love. So far I have never gone to a Scrapbook Expo and would love to go this year, of course with my sister.

  182. irmz says:

This prize is wonderful and I thank you for the chance to win… Just a bit about myself, I have been crafting, in one way or another since I was in high school. I really got interested in papercrafting in college and that interest has blossomed into making cards for the past decade or so. I craft my best late in the day, when life settles down and I can concentrate but there are times when crafting calls to me during the middle of the day.

  183. Jeannette Marks Riley says:

I have no scrapbook stores in my area so I would live to win tix to see what new products all of these fabulous companies have out now! Thanks for a chance!

  184. Sandy Suarez says:

I have been scrapbooking for about 13 years and also enjoy making cards and home decor for the holidays. I craft when I get free time. I am also part of a scrapbook group that meets once a month and love to scrapbook when we go camping in our rv. The memories I create are for my husband and for my 4 sons. Thanks for a chance to win.

  185. Jaime Spyksma says:

I have been scrapbooking since I got married, 17 years ago and I still love it! Would love a chance to attend a Scrapbook Expo and learn from the pros!

  186. Meigan says:

Have been card making for 20+ years with scrapbooking in between. Usually work at night. Can make cards easier than getting my scrapbooks out so card making usually wins. Love going to the scrapbook expo and look forward to it yearly. Would love to win tickets!

  187. Linda C says:

For a long as I can remember I always been doing some sort of crafting, but for the last 8 years I have really been involved in scrapbooking and card making. I’ve gotten my sister-in-law involved , and we luv to go to workshops and Expos. We are taking a road trip to NY in August for a work shop. I craft as often as I can. I always have several projects going on at the same time. Would luv to win the tickets.

  188. chark says:

I’m a writer and crafter and love crafting on rainy days…what else can you do on those days? I also find time to read and have a cup of tea on those days!

  189. Vanessa says:

I’ve been a DIY/crafting girl since I was a kid! My mom sewed all of our clothes, which led to lots of trips to the craft stores, then to paper crafting, scrapbooking, Project Life, cards, stamping! You name it! 🙂 More recently, I’ve been using scrapbooks/Project Life to catalog my journey as a fiction writer–keeping track of all those milestones and publishing excitement! Thanks for this awesome opportunity to win! I’d love to take my first vacation in a year! 🙂

  190. Jennifer Richards says:

I have been crafting for as long as I can remember…probably since I was about 8 years old. It started off with my grandmother teaching me to crochet. Then I learned to sew a few years later. After that I caught the scrapbooking bug which led to paper crafting of all sorts and cards became a major part of my life. Now everyone that knows me knows they will be getting a card that doubles as a gift. It allows me to be creative and relieves all of my stress. Thanks for the chance to win tickets…it would be so much fun to do the card swap!!!

  191. Carol F says:

Newbie, new to, however you want to say it. I’m overwhelmed with the creativity I’ve seen on blogs, and scrapbook expo pages on Facebook. I’ve pinned, pinned & pinned to Pinterest! Would love to go to Scrapbook Expo, it would be my very first one! Have a Scrappy Day!

  192. Sophia says:

Love the scrap expo! I have been papercrafting for at least 10 years. I love making cards, so the card exchange sounds super fun! Two admissions would be perfect as I usually attend the expo with my crafty BFF, thanks!

  193. Dorothy Lind says:

Card making is my present love but I also like sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Oh, and embroidery too!!

  194. Teresa M says:

I’ve been an avid scrapbooker, both traditional and digi, for 10 years now. I especially enjoy getting together with girlfriends for an all-day crop. My best time to scrap is at night, but sometimes I’ll get up at 6:00 a.m. before the rest of the house wakes up, grab a coffee, and sneak downstairs to my craft room and stay there until I hear them stir. Have never been to a Scrapbook Expo event and would love to attend one that is closest to where I live, which is Toronto. Maybe one day you’ll all come up to Canada?

  195. Teresa Alvarado says:

I have never been to the expo, BUT really want to go! I would love to win and take my mom who is new to card making, and have a good time!!!

  196. Ellie L says:

I’ve been a paper crafter since 1999 when a friend who was a Creative Memories consultant introduced me to scrapbooking. Since then I’ve enjoyed traditional and digital scrapbooking, cardmaking, and just playing with paper in various ways. I love to craft whenever I can and really enjoy all day crops or retreats. Sometimes I craft in the evening and sometimes in the morning, it truly is when I can squeeze in the time.

  197. Rachel Robinson says:

I began my addiction in 2000 and it started with a kit from Wal-Mart. I then took a beginners class and I’ve been hooked ever since. Scrap booking has lead me to make the most amazing friends. We get together 2 times a month to craft, but we get together more often to go shopping. I sometimes see my fellow scrapers more than I do my husband. LOL

  198. Auntie Morrissey says:

I scarp anytime I have a few moments. My favorite scrapin subject is my beautiful nieces. Each year I take them on vacation then make a scrapbook of our adventures.

  199. Sarah A says:

  209. Marla says:

I have trained my dog as a magic 8 ball: she can answer any yes or no question, posed by anyone. It helps when I hold a cheese cracker and move it up and down or left and right- but still…she’s pretty amazing!

I am scrapbooking addict, have way too many supplies esp. paper!! BUT, I only scrapbook my 2 lovely children’s birthdays & Christmases because I knew I could never keep up if I did everything. And I still print ALL my pictures & put them in chronological albums!! A little OCD about that! LOL

  215. Rachel says:

I’ve been scrapbooking for years. I prefer 12 × 12 layouts. They let me add more pictures and embellishments. I’ve never done card making, but would like to try it. I grew up In Alaska, but I live in Florida now, so I’ve had the opportunity to scrapbook some beautiful scenery.

  216. Juanita says:

I am new to card making and scrapbooking.this is my first expo and I’m super excited. I am from Maine and I scrap in the evening after work to whine down after a long day at worl. I feel relaxed when I’m doing it.

  217. Cynde says:

My creative juices start flowing after 10pm! Started by scrapbooking 10+ years ago and began using leftover embellishments for card making. I’ve made cards for people and found out later that they had framed them! That’s encouragement. Looking forward to the swap in Somerset and meeting other creative people.

  218. Karol Leisy says:

So excited to go to Scrapbook Expo Denver!!! This is my 3rd year of going to Denver Expo.. I am new to cards so this is exciting. I have only been making cards the past year and normally make them when the time it is needed. So crunch time…I have scrap booked for 6 years.. I consider myself a beginner….

    Looking forward to EXPO!!!

  219. Cheryl Sanfilippo says:

I love to both scrapbook and make cards. Both are completely different for me. I have been on a card making leave of absence for the last year and I am ready to get back into it. So going to the EXPO in Denver and learning new things would be so awesome. I can’t wait….Are we there yet?
Once I start to crop I don’t like to leave…so I can crop for 24 hours…but love to crop late at night when everyone is asleep. It’s so addicting!!! I LOVE IT!
