Freebie Friday: Taylored Expressions

Taylored Expressions cards by Jen Walker for Weekly Scrapper

Freebie Friday with Jen Walker

Welcome to Freebie Friday! I am very excited to be visiting you each and every Friday to show you one of the latest and greatest products to hit the scrapbooking and paper crafting world. I will also share with you a few projects I have created with these products and then give you the chance to win the products for yourself.

Are you ready? Let’s get started …

This week, I created cards using the following products from Taylored Expressions – Chemical Reaction die set, Beaker Buddies stamp set, TE Sequins – Formula for Love, and Matched Kit – Formula for Love. I had a great time working with these products. I absolutely love the dies and the papers.

The grey beaker die cuts on this card were cut and then inserted into the white cardstock. The top layer was then raised on foam dots for added dimension. It allowed me to leave the beaker empty (except for air 🙂 ) but still place the heart stir stick in the open space of the beaker.

Tip: When you receive clear plastic packaging, save it. I cut out a beaker in plastic packaging and used it to hold the sequins on this shaker card.

Thanks for joining me today! I’ll see you back here next week when I will have another giveaway for you! And in the meantime, here’s a little bit more about me:

Growing up, I was always a very creative person. I can remember spending endless amounts of time doing crafts for friends and family. Any kind of activity was good for me as long as it allowed me to express my creativity. After I started my own family, I began to take hundreds of pictures of everything and everyone. With all these pictures to look at, the average photo album had lost its pizzazz. I needed a new medium for presenting our most memorable moments. I wanted my kids to have something they could look at that would make our special moments feel real again.

Enter scrapbooking. Scrapbooking has allowed me to present photographs in a new way, to include a curl of hair from my son’s first haircut, to record my kids handprints and footprints at various stages of their growth, to preserve the artwork that helped them realize how fun a little paint could be, to keep the ticket from their first adventure to the movie theatre, and to preserve the green and red leaves they collected when they first realized that trees change colours every year in the fall. The possibilities are truly endless.

I hope you will join me on this adventure into creativity!

~ Jen

I enjoy paper crafting (mostly quilling and card making) because it gives me the opportunity to take a piece of paper and by embellishing it (die cutting, stamping, embossing, rolling up and shaping, etc) to create something totally unique and beautiful, that I just KNOW is going to make someone’s day a little bit happier! And in that process I find contentment, relaxation, fun and happiness for myself!

  16. marylouh says:

I make greeting cards and do other mixed media projects. I enjoy this form of expression because it is portable (easy to pack up and do), you don’t have to have a lot of fancy brushes and paints (some adhesive tape, scissors, paper are the basics needed), you can create anyplace (at home or at a friends), and you can relieve your creative urge at any time. You end up with a project that you can share. Sending a card to a friend or member of the family lets them know that I really love them as you’ve spent time making something just for them.

  17. Debby J says:

I love scrapbooking because it captures the memories as well as the pictures! It is a keepsake for all of the family to enjoy and treasure! As for cards, a handmade card (whether simple or fancy, with mistakes or perfect) shows the receiver that they mattered enough for time to be spent crafting the card. A handmade card always carries just a little extra thoughtfulness and appreciation for the recipient!

  20. Tammy Davis says:

I started out as a card maker and have moved on to mixed media, altered art and home décor to name a few. My passion is still making cards because I love the joy of knowing that the recipient is going to smile when they receive something that I made especially for them with my own hands! Even when finances are tight a handmade card is an easy and cost effective way to make someone feel special. Whether it is a Birthday, Holiday or Just Because card it is sure to bring lots of joy! Sometimes a very simple card using only a sheet or two of paper is more special than a really elaborate card.

I am mainly a card-maker and really enjoy being able to make a specially designed item for each person, no two are ever alike. It is a pleasure to work with paper and to create something special that someone might want to keep. It is so much better to do this than to go out and purchase an item or trinket for someone who may or may not like the item. I have yet to hear anyone say they did not like their card.

I am currently working on creating a card for my Great Niece using the theme of “Frozen” that she is using for the parties theme.

  46. Colleen Howell says:

I adore making cards, scrapbooks, and all kinds of other crafts. I started in 1997 when I went to a Creative Memories class with a co-worker I made a page of my son playing in the snow.
