Welcome! Today I have two butterfly cards to share with you, and I’d like to tell you more about my process for creating these! Butterflies are so much fun for any occasion – birthdays, sympathy, get well, baby showers…you name it! They’re very versatile.
On the watercolor card I’ve first stamped and die cut the pretty butterfly and attached it to my card in the center, so I could pop up the wings with dimensional adhesive. I stamped the tiny flowers and leaves around it. Then with a teal watercolor paint, I added paint around the design. (I used watercolor paper for my card base.) When dry, I cut out the “So Happy” and adhered it over the top. The card looks difficult to create, doesn’t it? But was actually quite simple!
The clear sequins by Pretty Pink Posh give it a touch of sparkle!
Next up is a stenciled card. I used the fun Color Pop Butterflies mini kit (available April 15th at Papertrey Ink) that has three stencils that you layer. First I stenciled the yellow butterflies using the large butterfly stencil in the kit. Next, I placed the second stencil over the top and stenciled the smaller aqua butterflies, and last I stenciled the flowers in pink. Then I used the stamps in the kit to add details to my butterflies and flowers in slightly darker colors. The details give it such life!
When my panel was finished, I cut a piece out of it with this frame. The panel was popped up with dimensional adhesive. See how the butterflies look as if they are going off the edge of the panel? I love this effect.
Last, I added another die cut sentiment, a vellum butterfly die cut, and a flower grouping.
I hope this gets your creativity running today! See you again soon!
