Technique Spotlight with Paige Evans: Mini Albums

Paige-technique-header

Lately I have been making more mini albums than layouts! It’s been a fun change of pace and just what I needed to keep the creativity flowing. It all started when I was asked to make a mini album for the Make It Mini column of the Summer 2017 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine

MYKONOS MINI ALBUM by Paige Evans

Here is the mini album that started the obsession! I was so happy to finally put photos of one of our adventures into a book! One down, about 300 to go haha! I used my Take Me Away collection with Pink Paislee since it has a travel themed and the colors blended perfectly with the bright colors found all over the island of Mykonos, Greece.

KEUKENHOF MINI ALBUM by Paige Evans

After making the above Mykonos mini album, I was officially bitten by the mini-album-making bug! I found a pocket mini album cut file and had so much fun creating this little book about our trip to the Keukenhof Tulip Festival in Holland back in 2015 – it’s never too late to document your memories! I used my Pink Paislee Oh My Heart collection to embellish – flowers flowers everywhere!

BLUE LAGOON MINI ALBUM by Paige Evans

Back in the day there was a sale of 4×4″ instagram albums and let’s just say I stocked up… and then they sat on my shelf… for years! I wanted to try something different – an entire album done in mint! The color of the water at the Blue Lagoon in Iceland is what inspired the color choice.

NICE, FRANCE MINI ALBUM by Paige Evans

My Silhouette Cameo is my favorite scrapbooking tool – it makes creating mini album bases so easy! For this book I used a scalloped pages cut file and mostly my Fancy Free collection with Pink Paislee. I hand stitched or machine stitched across the bottoms of 9 of the 12 scalloped pages to give ’em some texture and make the album cohesive.

SANTORINI MINI ALBUM by Paige Evans

This mini album was made with the new Pink Paislee Summer Lights collection! I just finished taking an online mini album class called Transparent Mini Album by one of my design team members, Stefanie Ried, over at Big Picture Classes. I walked away with the urge to make a mini album STAT!! We even went to Santorini last year just like Steffi so I was excited to incorporate some similar elements with a twist.

MONACO MINI ALBUM by Paige Evans

This concentric heart-shaped album is all about our day in Monaco! I die cut the “set of nested hearts” from six Oh My Heart patterned papers and added a few more pages here and there because I always find more pictures and elements I want to add. I layered them all together and stitched several times down the center to make the mini album base. The front cover was a super busy paper so I covered most of it with a piece of white cardstock and then went to town embellishing with florals, the Thickers title, and even a small photo of Monaco. I had a leftover charm that I made as a tester for my Santorini album that I used here.

It has taken me several years to really enjoy making mini albums! And now that I’ve found a groove, I don’t see an end in sight! Which makes me happy because goodness knows I have 4 years of adventures from living in Germany to scrapbook.  🙂

I love mini albums. You are my mini album muse! I love the one thought, theme, focus of a mini that can be accomplished in a sitting, or longer, depending on the journaling in my case. Mahalo, thank you for all your inspiration.

So cute! The best mini albums I have seen. I usually don’t like mini albums, but I would sign up at the Expo for a workshop on this!
