Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: My home is in Southern Ontario, Canada with my husband and two teenage children. I started scrapbooking when my son was a baby and I have been actively involved in this hobby for almost 17 years. It all started with a Creative Memories party at a friends house and I haven’t looked back since. Over the years I have been published in industry magazines and books (including the one I authored – Creative Foundations), I have appeared on TV and I teach extensively across, Canada, the US, and internationally. At the beginning of 2017 I debuted Vicki Boutin Mixed Media with American Crafts and my second release, All The Good Things debuted in November 2017. I LOVE paper crafting, color, making “ART” easy and documenting my family life and travels. This is so much more than a HOBBY, it is part of who I am and how I like to express myself.

Favorite thing to create: All of the things! I equally love scrapbooking, Junque Journaling, canvas art, card making, all paper crafting, and mixed media art. Scrapbook pages with a touch of mixed media artistry in bright, vibrant colors dominates my day-to-day creating. I love to supplement that with mini books, practicing techniques in my Junque Journal, creating cards, and altered items.

What do you love about this hobby? This is an easy one. It’s the people, the relationships, the shared passion for a hobby! The “thing” that has kept my interest in scrapbooking for over 15 years is finding a common connection with other crafters who share my passion for paper crafting. I also love the making. It isn’t even really important what I am actually working on, it is the process of creating that brings me joy.

5 fun facts about yourself:
1. I am very high energy and a chatterbox!
2. Zumba and latin dancing make my soul sing!
3. I’m a morning person.
4. Patterns are my favorite. My closet holds very few solids and lots of florals, polka dots, stripes, etc.
5. Lilacs are my very favourite flower. They remind me of my Grandma.

ALL THE GOOD THINGS by Vicki Boutin

It’s all about the layers! On this page I layered art crayons, stencils, stamps, die cuts, and a large title. By keeping the mixed media or artsy layers contained within the butterfly stencil the layout still remains crisp and subtle. I used products from the Vicki Boutin All The Good Things line with American Crafts.

BE YOU by Vicki Boutin

I love large titles I love painted backgrounds. This page combines both. I created a layered background using VB paints and stencils and a Gel Press plate (Gel Printing). I cut the title out of the painted background using my Silhouette. Love it! The soft background on the page was created with Vicki Boutin Art Crayons and Stencils.

Lots of layers and watercolour on this page using VB Watercolor Stickers and Art Crayons. I Love the look of all of the stickers and layers popping out on one side of the page.

SHINE ON by Vicki Boutin

I love my print making and using the Gel Press plate. This background was created using my VB Color Pop Paints, Gold Glaze, stamps and a gel plate. I ten added gold embossed images from my VB circle stamps with Art Crayon watercolour. The rectangle of circles behind the photo is my new Rose Gold Glaze and a stencil. Love the color on this page!

TOGETHER by Vicki Boutin

This background is Full of layers!!! I watercolored, stencilled with the stencil brush, stamped, added little and then finished with a rub on. Lots of layers but it still look bright, colourful, and clean. Mixed media scrapbooking can have a lot going on and stay colorful and fresh.

Vicki makes me want to try my hand at mixed media – her pages are GORGEOUS!!
