Stitched Background Card

Hey, everyone! Roree here with a Make It! Monday project. Today I am sharing a card I created with a stitched background.

I just love to add stitching on my projects. It is a really fun detail that adds a little bit of texture and a lot of visual interest to my creations. I haven’t been doing it so much lately though, so I thought it was time to pull out my sewing machine and get back to it.

With my sewing machine, I created this card:

Using some patterned paper from Pebbles‘ new Patio Party collection by Jen Hadfield, I created a stitched grid on a panel of the Bouquets patterned paper.

Then, I placed the stitched panel on the front of a card and layered embellishments on top.

I didn’t make the stitching the star of the show, just a detail on my layered card. For me, it’s all about the details.

I finished the card with a paper doily, ribbon, a mini paper bag, a tag with baker’s twine, and Patio Party Ephemera die cuts.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Love the stitching, would like to try this but am afraid it might hurt my machine I use for quilting. Have to invest in a small machine for my paper crafting. Any suggestions?

I set my tension at 3 (scale of 0-9) on my machine. It works for me, but I am sure you would need to test sewing paper on your machine to see what works for you. Thanks!

Great way to use that sewing machine into your card technique. I love to sew also so it is the best of both worlds papercrafting and sewing. I need to do more of this just have not gotten it into my cards yet.

Such a pretty card. Love that extra detail of stitching the background. I haven’t really tried making a pattern, just semi-straight lines? Will have to try this.
