I hope that you’re kicking back and enjoying a nice relaxing Sunday, which means you’re ready to check out some great projects. I even have the perfect recipe for a cold winter’s day. I just spent three weeks in New York where we had negative temperatures. I guess I’m a little spoiled after living in California for 20 years. How quickly I forgot what those cold temperatures felt like!
One thing I am always on the lookout for is really cute gift boxes and/or bags. There is something to be said about receiving a gift within a gift to show the people in your life how special they are to you. You could go to a party supply store and spend way too much money on a mediocre non-personalized bag but you are a very talented crafter, so why not take a trip to your scrapbook room and come out with this adorable faux metal trinket box?

What’s not to love about this sweet feminine layout designed by Emeline Seet. The Melissa Frances resin embellishments, buttons, and ribbon flower paired with the soft blues, creams, and whites really complement the precious black and white photo.
I love how Emeline uses many layers to create dimension and detail while still allowing the photo to take center stage. Emeline used vellum and white lace to soften the look of the patterned paper for a beautiful, feminine feel. I hope you’ve been inspired to breakout your precious photos and start scrapping!
Blanket Stitched Heart Garland
Hearts are something that never go out of style, so I often use them in my designing. What attracted me most to this project was not only is it perfect for Valentine’s Day, but because it is a craft project you can work on while traveling. Many of us are always on the go, whether you’re taking the kids to their many activities and then waiting for them, or traveling to the next Scrapbook Expo like me! So why not have something to keep your very creative hands busy? Whether you are on a plane, train, or automobile or just sitting in front of the TV, this is a fun and oh-so-versatile project that can be used in many different ways.
This pretty heart garland is so easy and inexpensive to make (just one stitch, some felt scraps, and twine). You are going to love the video tutorial that Lisa has provided on her blog Shiny Happy World showing you how to create the perfect blanket stitch (no worries if you aren’t familiar with the stitch) as well as a free pattern for the felt pieces. Not only do these hearts and circles make an adorable garland but they would also be great as an embellishment for a card, tag, on a scrapbook layout, or even as a cute pin. The possibilities are endless!

Slow Cooker Loaded Potato Soup
This is one of those winter comfort foods that your family will ask for time and time again. I’d like to thank Jaclyn, from Cooking Classy, for sharing this recipe. I love it because I can toss it in the crock pot in the morning before things get too crazy and forget it (well, maybe a stir here and there as I pass by) until we’re ready for dinner. Add a nice loaf of crusty bread and a simple salad and you’re good to go. Definitely a no muss, no fuss, and oh-so-delicious dinner. Enjoy!
