Card Sketch: Be You

*Tammy-header-800Hi friends! Here’s a simple, pretty card that makes use of your ribbon odds and ends.

Be You det2_Tammy Chenault_w Tip: When you get to the end of a piece of ribbon, just tie a small bow with the leftovers and pretty soon you’ll have a collection of cute little bows handy to embellish your cards. Be You sketch_Tammy Chenault_800To do the gold pleating at the bottom, I cut a strip of gold Italian crepe paper (you can get a roll from Mon Ami Gabby here) to about 1″ tall and several inches wider than my card front. I applied double-stick tape along the bottom of the card front and centered the crepe paper on it, with one edge of the crepe paper lining up with the bottom of the card. Then I finger-pleated it to one edge and then the other, pressing it down on the tape as I went to keep the pleats in place.

Trim a block of pretty patterned paper as wide as your card and about 1/2″ shorter. Stitch along the bottom with contrasting thread, then curl up the paper a bit along the thread.

Embellish the upper-right of the card: Anchor your embellishments with a vertical strip of ribbon coming down from the top. Next, place your sentiment on the ribbon. I stamped a Lindsay Letters stamp from Studio Calico on pink paper and cut it out. Now you can add three cute bows above and below your sentiment to finish.

Hope this inspires you and I’d love to see anything you make from the sketch! You can leave a link to your card in the comments, post it to our Facebook page, or share it on our Flickr group.

Have a great week, see you next Tuesday!
