Sequin String “Hello Sunshine” Layout

Welcome back to another “Inspiration Station” blog post. For this week’s project, I wanted to incorporate sequins onto a layout. I am loving the look of sequins right now, but sometimes it’s hard to find a new way to use them. Today I’ll show you how to string sequins onto crochet twine to create a fun, movable element on your scrapbooking page.

To create this project, you will need die cut words, crochet twine or embroidery thread (as it is thinner than other kinds of thread or twine), and some sequins:

Step 1: Mount the die cut words onto white cardstock.

Step 2: Thread the sequins onto the crochet twine and wrap around the cardstock two to three times and tie the thread into a bow. Repeat this step as many times as you want rows of sequins.

And here’s a closer look at the entire layout, including the movable sequins which slide along the thread. I’ve also included a close-up shot of a unique way to use a chipboard frame on your layout.

Like the look of this project? You can create the same look with circles that have small holes poked in the center, or buttons, or tags. Embellishments on your page don’t have to be attached to make a statement. Something that slides or moves as you turn the pages of the album can be an exciting addition to any page.
