Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started scrapbooking: I am a 30-something stay-at-home-momma to a former micro-preemie (who is now a happy, healthy toddler!) and an English Golden Retriever, a wife to a Brit, and a maker of many things, including lots of baked goods in addition to scrapbook layouts. I began my journey into memory-keeping by stamping and making cards with my mom in high school, after which I made my first scrapbook complete with shaped photos and full of stickers. After a memory-keeping ‘hiatus’ through my college and professional years, I started it all back up again to document my honeymoon in Tuscany, and from there I was hooked. I have had the opportunity to design for some wonderful companies such as Elle’s Studio, American Crafts, Chickaniddy Crafts, and Scraptastic Club and I am excited to see where this journey will take me in the future.

Favorite thing to scrap: Definitely my daughter. Her story, which started prematurely after being born at 25 weeks gestation, inspires me to not take her for granted and document everything that I can about her sweet, funny personality, and our family’s love for her.

What do you love about scrapbooking? I love that it can be whatever you want it to be. No matter if you create 12×12″ layouts, pocket pages, or mini albums, you are a minimalist or over-embellish, use one photo or 10; we are all still involved in this hobby to document stories and get our photos printed on paper. There’s something pretty amazing about that!

5 fun facts about yourself:
1. I cannot whistle.
2. I got hooked on Formula 1 racing when I met my husband. We now own seats at the new Austin Speedway and I look forward to the Grand Prix yearly!
3. I am originally from Kentucky and it will always be home in my heart!
4. I have big feet – size 11! Shoes always look cute until I try them on. *sigh*
5. I am addicted to spin class. It is my therapy!

Now check out the lovely layout Meghann made for her feature:

WORDS OF WISDOM by Meghann Andrew

When I used all of the Studio Calico gold labels from a past kit, I almost threw the empty negative sheet away before realizing that it would be perfect on a layout. I decided to fill the empty spaces with little pieces of advice for my daughter to carry with her through her life. Since I started papercrafting with stamping, I use that technique a lot on layouts, and decided that I had some perfect stamp sayings to complete this layout! To add something a bit more organic than the two large squares on the page, I hand cut the Carta Bella flowers from a piece of patterned paper and kept my title white, so that it wouldn’t add any extra weight to the background. A handwritten note to her under a photo from her second birthday finished up the page nicely.

Here are four more stunning layouts made by Meghann:

LOVE US by Meghann Andrew

It’s not often that I get a dressy photo of my daughter and I together – I’m usually the one behind the camera – so this photo is extra special to me. For me a winning layout = a favorite photo + a girly color scheme + some fussy cut flowers. This layout ticks all of those boxes.

HELLO BEAUTIFUL by Meghann Andrew

There are certain manufacturers’ products that just ALWAYS work for me and Elle’s Studio makes some fantastic products that I find are always easy for me to use. I felt like this page was so effortless to put together, mostly because the product just highlights the photo so well and allows it to shine! So on this layout, the process and the combination of photo and product makes this a favorite.

FUNNY LITTLE DREAMER by Meghann Andrew

I love creating texture on my layouts and adding a white-on-white texture with the stars stitched in the background has been one of my favorite ideas yet! Top that off with a funny photo of my girl and a soft and pretty color scheme, and this one is easily my favorite layout to date.

This one is a second-runner-up to my ‘Funny Little Dreamer’ layout. Why, you ask? First, I am a huge fan of mixing multiple patterns on a page and I love the pattern and color mix on this one. Second, the photo. Although it isn’t perfect by any means, it records a real, everyday moment of me picking my daughter up from her crib after her nap. I took the photo with a timer app on my mobile sitting on her dresser. Third, stamping is one of my favorite things, so this colorful, graphic, stamped title just makes me so happy. Last, the actual title – that book just kills me every time I read it.

Thank you so much for sharing with us today Meghann!
