Happy Tuesday, and welcome back to another Creative Cardmaker post! First, I should probably apologize for yet ANOTHER butterfly card! I guess butterflies and I go together like peanut butter and jelly. Ha! I started creating, and this is what I came up with: a card with a sewn vellum pocket that acts like a shaker. Let’s get started!
I’m using Gossamer Blue’s Gramercy Road line of papers, die cuts, stickers, and stamps today, along with Papertrey Ink’s Cover Plate: Bitty Butterflies. Actually, I had cut some butterflies out yesterday for THIS card and had the negative of the butterfly piece left over. I thought I should put it to good use! I wanted to layer a few leaf die cuts over the top, then cover them with vellum to create a shaker pocket.
Here is what the “shaker” will look like! All I have to do is stitch or adhere the edges of the vellum. I attached the butterfly background to the striped cardstock and layered a chipboard flower over the top. I love the dimension and all of the layers peeking through. Next, I want to stamp a sentiment onto the vellum. Although the stamps are meant for fall, I think they are pretty for spring, too!
I stamped and embossed the “hello” over the vellum and some leaves up in the corner as well. This adds yet another visual layer, without adding bulk!

So pretty, and love that you added leaves into your pouch, just goes to show you don’t have to add sequins! 🙂 I always love your designs. Hope your doing well. I have been working on lots of fun things, but not blogging a whole lot for the last year due to health reasons. Just had to let some things go for a while. I agree with you that this card is pretty for spring, too. The leaves are so graceful that they can float their way through any season. The striped pattern looks fabulous behind the butterfly cutouts, something I hope to remember to try. Your designs have such an ease to them, Dani, that everything you create, whether you use items that are ‘supposed’ to go together or not, e.g. butterflies and fall leaves, just works and looks great.

Love this vellum shaker card, beautiful with the butterflies and flowers! I can see myself using this sequins-alternative to make a masculine shaker too!
