Do you remember as a kid making string art? If you Google “string art” you’ll see so many amazing projects! I learned how to make string art in Girl Scouts when I was a kid and remember having so much fun with it! String art has now made its way to cardmaking. What will they think of next? Let me show you a few samples of string art on a card… one that I’ve made myself and a few I found online.
I’m using the String Frames dies from Papertrey Ink. They cut several different sizes, so you can do more than one and overlap them. I just did one large one for my card today. I placed the large String Frames die on white cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine. Then with rustic jute twine, I poked it through the holes and attached it to the back with tape to assure that it stays.
The florals are stamped with Holiday Greens. I turned mine into an autumn card, but these Holiday Greens could also be used for a Christmas card. Maybe some gold twine in the String Frames holes for a holiday card? That would be so pretty, wouldn’t it? The sentiment is stamped with Give Thanks stamps.
Here are a few other samples of string art on cards. The first one uses yarn to stitch the holes by Dawn McVey.
The next one has a stamped image underneath, then the frame around the sentiment. I love that look, too, by Erin Lincoln.
Maile Belles also has some cute samples on her blog that don’t use the whole frame! There are so many different ways to use this idea!
Happy crafting!
Danielle
