There is so much more than first meets the eye when you look at this gorgeous layout. I was truly inspired by the way the artsy background complements the photo versus competing for the attention that it deserves. It looks complicated but with a little help from your creative friend Riikka you, too, can pull off your own work of art in no time. Watercolored Backgrounds By Shari Carroll

I confess, I seem to be on a watercolor kick, but in my defense, there are so many amazing projects using all kinds of fun techniques that it’s hard to resist sharing the inspiration. Whether you’re creating a card, tag, scrapbook layout, art journal pages, etc., there is always room for some watercolor magic.

More often than not when designing a card I don’t add the sentiment until the need arises; that way you’re ready for any occasion.  Just grab one of your cards, add a greeting, and you are good to go. Many of you know that I travel often with the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo, so things can get hectic. This habit of making my cards without committing to a specific occasion has saved me many times. I highly recommend creating your own stash of not only cards but also background pieces to use at a later date. It’s a real time saver when you’re in a pinch.

DIY Jewelry Storage By Christy

How cute is this shabby chic Jewelry Tower?!  I can definitely see this beauty sitting on my dresser – it’s perfect to toss your favorite pieces of jewelry into at the end of the day, or maybe your hair accessories in one layer. I absolutely love the blue dishes with the distressed candlesticks, however, you can easily customize your own Jewelry Tower to fit your style and space.

The next time you’re going to yard sales or visiting your favorite thrift store, don’t hesitate to pick up those pretty dishes and make something beautiful. Kudos to you for saving our landfills one recycled piece at a time! One person’s trash is another crafter’s treasure.
