Friend Card with Stitching

Tammy-header

Hi friends! Welcome back to our Sketch Challenge! Before I show you this week’s sketch I want to share some entries from last week’s challenge. First up, we have a card by Monique Leslie – love that fun paper bow!

Next up is a Valentine’s-Day-themed card by Jen Walker, featuring a darling “love” die by Paper Smooches and patterned paper from Taylored Expressions.

Finally, we’ve got a pretty spring-colored card with those lovely pinks and greens and a vibrant central embellishment. Notice how the notched ends of the ribbon tie back to the banner in the sketch.

Thanks a million for sharing your lovely cards, ladies!

Now for today’s card and sketch. This one is very “scrap-friendly” so if you’re like me and you hate to throw away ANY of your favorite paper, this is a great way to use up those little bits. To make it, I punched out a bunch of circles, then snipped them in half. I arranged them on the card before taping them down with a little double-stick tape, then secured them with stitching. A Basic Grey wooden “friend” tag tied with black ribbon and twine at the top right finishes it off. Don’t worry about getting everything lined up just perfectly, because a little randomness in this arrangement gives it some movement and a festive, party feel.

Sketch 01-20

To make it your own, you could punch out a different shape instead of a circle, you could do the rows vertically instead of horizontally, you could do a flower instead of a tag – whatever strikes your fancy! The point is to have fun, so anything goes. If you play along this week, remember to post a link to your blog in the comments, or you can simply upload your card to our flickr group (use the hashtag #cardsketchchallenge), either way I can’t wait to see what you make! 🙂 See you back here next Tuesday.
