Saturdays-with-LeAnn

Hello again, my crafty friends! I recently returned from a wonderful Scrapbook Expo show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I always get home feeling so motivated and inspired to start creating! With my enthusiasm today, I hope to share some wonderful projects that will get you inspired to take some time this week for you to create some fun projects.

Clock Face Chipboard Layout created by Kim Price

Today I want to share this exquisite layout featuring a large Blue Fern clock face chipboard piece, which made this layout so striking! Kim did some fussy cutting, painted her chipboard clock face, and added her layering technique to make this layout really pop! Her embellishments with her beautiful papers come together so well.

Kim added many beautiful flowers, giving this a lovely shabby chic look. This also gives the layout a fun girly look with some fabulous dimension. I’m inspired, aren’t you? Get out those special photos and begin your layout! Using chipboard is always a great way to get started.

Mom created by Cherry Nelson

When I discovered this beautiful card created by Cherry Nelson, I couldn’t help but think about my own mom. The scissors brought back memories of my mother as she was a hair dresser, along with being a beautiful seamstress. I took some time to reminisce about the fun things she would sew for me, and the haircuts in her beauty shop that I would often get. Oh, how I miss her and those memorable days!

Since Mother’s Day is just around the corner, what a treasured card to create for your mom, grandmother, or even a special friend who is a mom! Along with this adorable vintage card, you can take a few extra minutes and create a pillow box gift set.

Cherry used Carta Bella papers, along with a handmade flower made from a vintage hankie, and antique linen fabrics. This will be one of those gifts that will be treasured for years to come.

Ingenious Inking created by Barbara Anders

This beautiful mixed media canvas is a perfect way to experiment with all of the fun mediums, textures, colors, and embellishments. Let your creative mind go to work using all of your supplies, and enjoy all the different textures and patterns.

Ingenious Inking

For this outstanding project, Barbara started by using a 8 x 10 inch linen canvas. The taupe colored canvas gives a great color to start with for the background. Adding some gesso, stamping, and then her fabulous embellishments, Barbara created a masterpiece to display in her home. For her step-by-step instructions CLICK HERE. Remember that mixed media is forgiving; if you don’t like the way you put something on the canvas, just gesso over it and start over. Give this a try, you will have a lot of fun!  Mixed media could easily become your favorite way of crafting!

Vintage Floral Jewelry

Once again, giving mom a homemade gift will warm her heart and she will cherish it forever. This fun vintage floral necklace was made using Epoxy clays and molds. Don’t be intimidated – just give it a try; you are going to have so much fun making these. The molds are very easy to use.
