Now that you’ve survived a hectic and busy week, I hope you’re enjoying a carefree, relaxing Sunday. I have some really great projects to share, so sit back, enjoy, and soak in the inspiration!
Our first project is a beautiful soft shabby chic card designed by the very talented Melissa Bove, author of Keepsakes By Melissa. The title/sentiment alone makes me smile because it’s so true. When you make the choice to “Be Happy” it is contagious. I love that expression “positive thoughts bring positive results.” Again, very true. I hope you’re wearing your smile today!
I love the cute balloons that Melissa made from the Heidi Swapp chipboard hearts along with the vintage lace, flowers, and doily. If the recipient wasn’t smiling before they received this card they will be when they open it and see all the love that you put into it. Keep up the good work spreading those contagious smiles and be sure to stop by Melissa’s blog for unlimited inspiration.
What first drew my eye to this sweet card was the fun color combination. Mint and tangerine on top of the kraft paper really works well together and allows the fun woodgrain texture in the background to pop. I love how Melissa kept her clean fresh style while incorporating some fun textures by applying texture paste through the wood grain stencil that comes with Jillibean’s Doily & Woodgrain Stamp & Stencil Set.
I’m really loving the detail on the doilies and how it shows up when stamped and heat embossed. Who wouldn’t feel a hug when opening this adorable card? Several of my fellow paper crafting friends have a definite clean, tidy style and the thought of experimenting with different texturing mediums sent them running. When I showed them this card and they saw that they could combine different textures while still retaining a fresh, clean look they were very excited. Don’t you just love it when you can have it all?
This precious layout is proof that it really is ok to mix and match different collections and still come out with a totally coordinated page. I love how Riikka combines different paper collections to punch out the stars and hearts and then layered them across the page. This design is a fun way to use up those treasured scraps that we can’t seem to throw away. As if that wasn’t cute enough, Riikka added some stamping, acrylic paint, and miscellaneous die cuts.
May you be fearless when it comes to your creativity, to be open to mixing things up a bit, but most important have fun with your art. You’ll never know how creative you really are unless you get in there and play. Be sure to stop by Riikka’s blog Paperiliin anytime you need some serious inspiration. Hugs to all my fellow memory keepers; keep up the good work preserving your special memories.
With all this cold weather that we’ve been having I thought you might enjoy a project that will remind you of warmer times. It won’t stay cold forever, I promise! Isn’t this a perfect project for a relaxing Sunday? This one is definitely on my Bucket List of things to make. Where this frame is high on the creative scale, it’s petite in size. The frame itself is only 4.5 X 4.5 and I can think of multiply places to put this little beauty. Have you seen all the different shades that hydrangeas come in? Wouldn’t it be cute in shades of pinks and lavender as well. Have fun creating your little bit of sunshine.
I hope that this project has warmed up your creative side. I was so inspired that I purchased the Hydrangea Flower before I finished writing this article; it was on sale for $10.99 instead of the regular price of $19.99, so how could I not buy it? I’d like to send out a big hug to Anna Karin for her constant generosity in sharing of her beautiful designs. Be sure to stop by her blog Layers Of Ink where you will find an amazing tutorial on how to recreate this beautiful home decor piece. Click here and I will take you there.
After all that inspiration it’s time to think about what’s for dinner. Since you might have spend more time in your crafty world than you had intended, I have a fast and easy dinner idea that you and your family will love.
I recommend stopping by to visit the girls Erica, Echo, and Emily and they will share just how easy its to throw these delicious Nachos together. Nachos are a personal preference and if your family is like mine, we all like different toppings. The solution is to have all their favorites in attractive little bowls and everyone gets it their own way. It doesn’t get any better than when the whole family are happy campers. This is also a great lunch solution when the gang comes over to scrapbook.
Our Scrapbook Expo show season has begun, yay! I am so excited to be teaching in our Creativity Center and I would love it if you came by to see me. Scrapbook Expo combines scrapbooking, card making, stamping, and crafting to give you a fabulous crafting experience. I love creating projects with everyone there and hope to see you at the show!
Enjoy, and I look forward to seeing you next Sunday; have a great week!
