Technique Spotlight with Paige Evans: Cross-Stitching

Paige-technique-header

Hello scrappy friends! Paige Evans here and am so excited to share not one, but TWO brand new layouts with accompanying process videos featuring a new-to-me-favorite-technique: cross-stitching!

There are a few patterned papers in my Take Me Away collection with Pink Paislee that were specifically designed with cross-stitching them in mind. I knew it would take awhile to do the stitching, so I’ve sort of put those projects on the backburner. But this past weekend we were finally home instead of traveling or teaching so I stitched away!

The cross-stitch pattern is printed right on the paper so I didn’t need to design anything or use any kind of template – it’s already been done! You could also use any color of thread/s to sew as you like, but again to keep things simple I used the colors already printed.

Here is the second layout I made with cross-stitching:

There is another cross-stitch paper in Take Me Away with five flowers on it that I’ve been wanting to stitch… and so I did! I’m so happy to have these layouts that have been on my mind for months finally created and, for now, hanging on my wall to display. Eventually they will make their way into scrapbooks.

I loved being able to create my own unique, and one-of-a-kind embellishments for my page. I used a few more colors of threads than there were printed on the papers and I think this gave the flowers a bit more of a realistic look.
