Sundays With Lorraine

Hello my crafty friends and welcome back to Stamp & Scrapbook Expo’s blog.  Our 2018 season is in full swing and I am on Cloud 9 seeing you all at the shows.  You are some seriously talented paper crafters and it’s always a party when we are able to craft together!

Did you know that this week is “Be Kind To Animals Week”?  In honor of all our furry friends, I hope you enjoy the following projects.

“Handsome Boy” by Tina Ollett

If you are like me, I am forever taking pictures of my fur babies; they do the cutest things and my phone is full of cat pics.  Our pets are an important part of the family and deserve a special place in our scrapbooks, too.  This gorgeous layout truly inspired me to make a Costco run and print out some of those precious photos off my phone.  The adorable pic of Tina’s sweet dog Rafael alone was enough to inspire a trip to the craft room, but the layout itself is a work of art.

I know you are itching to see what supplies were used to create this amazing layout.  Click here and I will be happy to take you over to The Dusty Attic Blog so you can check out the original post.  Big hugs to Tina for showing us how it’s done.

Butterfly Love by Stampin Steve

Stampin Steve is a true inspiration when it comes to card making.  He definitely has a gift for bringing his stamped images to life with Copic markers.  The gorgeous Tiny Townie Butterfly Girl Blanche looks as though she’s about to flutter off the card.  Who wouldn’t feel the love that was put into this sweet card?

Did you notice the sparkly design behind the main image?  Steven used some “Moonstone” Glitter Paste by Tonic and I love the subtle texture it adds to the card.  For all you Copic fans, Steven has provided a complete list of what color Copic markers were used to bring this adorable image to life.   Click here and I would be happy to escort you over to Steve’s blog.

Suitcase Cat Bed Tutorial

How cute is this cat bed?  You can find these vintage suitcases at most thrift stores or yard sales.  My cats absolutely love curling up in my suitcase when I’m packing up to leave for a trip, the smaller the better.  Store bought cat beds do the job and provide a sweet nesting place, but the crafty girl in me was looking to create something different, fun, and unexpected.  I just happen to have two of these vintage suitcases stashed away for just such an occasion.  I’ll share with you when I complete Izzy’s new bed.

I can’t resist the opportunity to share a pic of my little Izzy claiming my suitcase before one of my trips. She thinks if she is on or in the suitcase I can’t leave.  🙂

I hope you’ve been inspired to create a one-of-a-kind bed for your favorite pets. They will definitely feel the love!

Baked Coconut Shrimp With Chili Mango Dipping Sauce

Lee is the queen of creating healthy and balanced recipes; not only are they delicious but they are also picture perfect.  This recipe might look intimidating, but it’s really not.  It will take you less than 30 minutes to make.  Click here and I will be happy to introduce you to the Fit Foodie Finds Food Blog (try saying that three times, lol). You’re going to love Lee’s amazing recipes.

I just returned home from an amazing show at the beautiful Gaylord Palms and now I’m off to Milwaukee, WI  May 4-5.  That still leaves 14 more shows this year, so be sure to check out the schedule.  There is still time to gather up your creative peeps and start planning an amazing weekend.  I’ll meet you at the Creativity Center.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have an amazing week ahead of you.

Hugs to all,

Lorraine

Loved the pic of your Izzy! I could not figure out why I always had dirty clothes when I arrived at my travel destinations…until I went to finish packing one day and found my boy making himself quite at home in my suitcase. THEN it all made sense! Looking forward to seeing you in Denver!

Lorraine my cat does exactly the same thing. She gets right inside my luggage. They are so funny. Glad you enjoyed yourself in my home town. Even I stay at the Gaylord during the expo and live like a tourist. Its my little vacation, I leave the hubby and critters home and I escape to the Gaylord for the show and have a wonderful time. I have lived here for 55 years, and it still amazes me how much people love coming here!!! Cant wait until next year!!!! I’m ready!! See you there!

Beautiful page. I have a rather poor photo of my first cat in a suitcase. He wasn’t going to let us leave without him, but he needn’t have worried. xx
