Saturdays With LeAnn

Warm Winter Greetings

Happy Saturday to you!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed your family and friends.  Today I am excited to share some of the great projects that I discovered this week.  Now that Christmas is over, you can get back to doing some crafting that you set to the side.  My hope for you is to enjoy your crafting and to be open to trying new things.  Always remember, there are no rules in crafting, just have fun and create until your heart is content!

This Moment By Rachael Funnell

I get asked many times how I come up with ideas to start layouts.  For me, inspiration usually comes from sifting through photos (which I love to do).  When I find the ones I want to use, I usually come up with some quick ideas for starting my layout.  One of my favorite go-to-ideas is using chipboard or die cuts.  They are such a great way to add some dimension and character to a layout.  I also love to add a lot of layering to my layout, which is another great way to add dimension.

When using chipboard, my favorite technique is to use paint, glitter, stickles, or texturing to give your layout that personal touch.  This beautiful layout created by Rachael Funnel has many techniques that she has added to create beauty on her page.  To find how Rachael created her layout, along with all the products that she used, click here and I will take you over to A Window To My Scrapping World.  You will be thrilled with all of the inspiration!  While you are there, enjoy all of the other beautiful layouts she has to share.

Don’t let those winter blues get you down!  Today I want to share a way to add a ray of sunshine to your home, along with using your creativity.  A chair makeover is easy and affordable!  All it takes is a little bit of paint, a stencil or two, and a dash of creativity to transform pieces of furniture around your home into mini masterpieces.  You can turn basic pieces of furniture into functional works of art just by using some stencil magic.

Revamp An Old Chair Using Stencils

A chair makeover project is not only simple but also very rewarding when the project is complete.  Paint can do wonders for blah and bland furniture.  But more than just slapping on a fresh color, add some design by using stencils.  This is a great way to add pattern and a touch of personality to your chairs.  You will be so pleased how they turn out and a new chair will add beauty to your home.  Let me take you on over to Stencil Stories where you will find step-by-step instructions.  Time to get out of your comfort zone and have some fun!

This Moment By Rachael Funnell — I liked the layout – BUT — for me the end result is way too bulky to put into any scrapbook. It looked more appropriate to be framed and mounted on a wall in a shadow box. That’s been my problem with a lot of some of the stuff that is sold for scrapbooking. Way too tall, way too thick. Just an opinion, on my part but I think perhaps the same opinion holds true for a lot of scrapbookers. Either the embellishment gets crushed when you close the scrapbook, or the page is put into a frame to keep it from getting destroyed.

This is definitely one layout that would be beautiful as a home decor. I do know they make albums that are geared around the more bulky layouts. Another idea is to use more flat embellishments to create the same look. Thanks for visiting the blog.
