Hey there Stamp & Scrapbook Expo friends, Becki here, to share a layout with you that I created with the brand new Heidi Swapp Hawthorne collection. The Heidi Swapp team sent this new collection to me a little while ago. I’ve had so much fun playing with this collection. It’s a beautiful collection full of rich colors and beautiful patterns.
Last Sunday my husband took this photo of my youngest son and me. I immediately fell in love with this photo because of my little man’s sweet smile. While I love the photo, the colors weren’t my favorite. My solution to that was to simply print the photo in black and white. By making that little switch, I loved the photo even more!
Because the photo is black and white I had free reign to use whatever product I wanted to on this layout without worrying about the colors clashing. Of course, I chose to work with the gorgeous Hawthorne collection. I love the masculine elements in this collection mixed with the gorgeous feminine florals. My favorite pattern in this entire collection is the dark brown woodgrain. I chose to use it as the background for this layout.
Along the bottom of the layout, I added a cream ledger patterned paper so that I could handwrite my journaling under the photo.
Around the photo I had fun layering a lot of embellishments, patterned papers, and washi. To make sure that my photo stood out I added a border of white cardstock and a border of grey cardstock. By giving the eye a place to rest around the photo, it makes the layout feel more balanced and all of the elements of the layout work together.
If you’ve been playing with the Heidi Swapp Hawthorne collection, I’d love to see what you’ve created. If you haven’t been playing with this collection, what are you waiting for? Hurry, you don’t want to miss out on this beautiful collection.
Thank you for stopping by the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo blog for Scrapbooking with the Heidi Swapp Hawthorne collection. I’ll be back again next week with another fun project. Have a great week my friends.
