Sundays With Lorraine

Hello, my crafty friends, and welcome back to Stamp & Scrapbook Expo’s blog.  As always, it’s an honor to have the opportunity to share projects designed by some of the most talented people in our very creative industry.  Here are a few projects that recently inspired me to get my creative mind moving and I hope they inspire you as well.

Let The Adventure Begin by Nathalie DeSousa

I instantly fell in love with the idea of creating a background using our treasured distress oxides and Nathalie certainly shows us how it’s done on this beautiful layout.  Nathalie started out by creating a series of frames that are staggered along the vertical line of the layout marking where the frames will be placed.  The dimensional dies popping up here and there really add some visual interest, don’t you agree?  The icing on the cake for me was the handwritten journaling in the bottom right frame.

Big hugs to Nathalie for being such a constant inspiration to her fellow paper crafters.  If you’d like to see more of Nathalie’s amazing designs, click here and I will be happy to take you over for a visit.

Mini Note Cards by Melissa Phillips

How cute are these mini note cards designed by the very talented Melissa Phillips?  What a creative way to use up some of those treasured scraps that we all seem to collect.  You can create your own card bases by using cardstock or patterned paper.  Melissa used the Noted: Scalloped, Simply Stitched, and Pinked A2 Vertical die collections to create the card base and simply folded the largest one in half to create the card base.

I hope you’ve been inspired to break out that new stamp set that you purchased at the show and create your own set of mini note cards.  Think of the instant gratification, they’re so small you can create several sets in no time.  Just thinking out loud here, but wouldn’t they make a sweet gift all wrapped in some vintage ribbon?

Cheesecake Factory’s Spicy Cashew Chicken

With a little help from Sabrina, you, too, can have the amazing taste of Cheesecake Factory’s Spicy Cashew Chicken in the comfort of your own home.  Ok, I will admit that there are a few more steps to this dish than I typically go for, but the end result is so worth the effort!  Click here and I will be happy to escort you over to Sabrina’s amazing food blog Dinner Then Dessert so you can take some notes.

Thanks for stopping by, I always enjoy our creative time together.  It’s show time for me and the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo.  The summer marathon of shows is in full swing and with 19 shows around the nation, the question is not what show you should attend, but rather how many shows you can attend!  I’ll meet you at the Creativity Center.

Hugs to all!

Lorraine
