Sunday’s Inspiration: Watercolor, mixed media, and what’s for dinner?

Sundays-with-Lorraine

Happy New Year, my crafty friends! This is Lorraine, and I’m excited to share some of  the projects that have been inspiring me this week.

Frameworks Mosaic by Anna-Karin

This beautiful project started out life as a journaling page, but the end result is so amazing I can definitely see this turned into a canvas to display in your home. This piece of art is all about texture, technique, and a whole lot of imagination. What’s not to love with stamping, inking, gesso, embossing, misting, distressing, and so much more?

I’d like to thank Anna-Karin, author of one of my favorite blogs, Layers Of Ink, for sharing her never-ending talent with us. If you haven’t yet had the pleasure, this blog is a must-have experience; you are sure to leave totally inspired to start your next project. Have fun and let your imagination run free!

A Rainbow of Watercolors

This next project goes out to all you amazingly creative stampers. Are you looking for a great way to add a rainbow of color to your next project? Then you are going to love this fun and oh-so-easy technique.

What I love most about this technique is that it’s as enjoyable as it is beautiful and you can use a variety of different coloring mediums. As you can see, colored pencils work great and why not give your Gelatos a try as well? So break out your water brush and colored pencils and have fun coloring your world! Be sure to stop by the Simon Says Stamp Blog and check out this great how-to article.

Watercolored Background by Kristina Werner

Continuing with our watercolored theme, I thought you might enjoy this beautiful card designed by the very talented Kristina Werner. I highly recommend stopping by her blog to check out the video on how to create this fun background!

With the holidays behind us, it’s time to create some handmade thank you cards.  This is one technique that you are sure to use over and over! I love how the white heat embossed images just pop against the watercolor background.

Watercolor Layout by Megan Hoeppner

While visiting the talented Megan Hoeppner’s blog, and with watercolor on my mind, I fell in love with the fun, rainbow-inspired background on this layout:

Visit Megan’s blog for a step-by-step tutorial of her technique, and look around while you are there and enjoy lots of lovely projects!

What’s for Dinner?

If you are anything like me, you often ask yourself, “What’s for dinner?” In the hopes of helping you get dinner on the table (and who doesn’t need help doing that?!) I’ll be sharing some of my favorite ideas for preparing dinner in about 30 minutes or less.

With that in mind, here’s a recipe for Honey Lemon Ginger Chicken that is fast, easy, and healthy. Doesn’t this look yummy? Stop by and see Alyssa at The Recipe Critic and check out even more of her delicious recipes!

I am really excited about sharing some of my favorite projects with you every Sunday! Here are few more things about me:

I have been part of the Scrapbook Expo Team for almost 15 years. Many of you have created with me in our Creativity Center (yes, I am the crazy New Yorker!). I also enjoy sharing my love of paper crafting on Weekly Scrapper. I have been a crafter for as long as I could hold a crayon – there isn’t a craft out there that I haven’t tried! But my true passion is scrapbooking and all types of paper crafting. I currently live in California with my husband of 20 years, my beautiful daughter, and two crazy cats. I look forward to spending some time with you at a Scrapbook Expo near you. Happy Crafting!
