Sundays With Lorraine

Sundays-with-Lorraine

Happy New Year and welcome to Weekly Scrapper!  I hope today’s post inspires you to begin a fresh new project and maybe even step outside your comfort zone just a bit. After all, you will never know what you are truly capable of unless you dive in without fear and experiment with your art. Just remember, there are no rules, so just have fun and create like no one’s watching! 😉

Goals For 2016

Does the beginning of a new year have you thinking about setting a few goals for yourself? How about dedicating a page in your scrapbook to help you with achieving those goals? I can’t think of a better way to start off a new year than to put your goals down on paper. I’m already seeing a 2nd page done a year from now documenting your success!  After reading Meghann’s article, I was extremely motivated to dive into the world of digital paper crafting. I must confess I’m a bit old school with my scrapbooking and haven’t yet mastered the art of going digital.  I love the idea of going hybrid and utilizing traditional paper crafting with the help of using digital cut files. This is going to be one of my goals for 2016 – wish me luck!

2016 GOALS WITH MEGHANN ANDREW

I’d like to send out a huge thank you to Meghann for being such an inspiration. Click here and I will bring you over to Elle’s Studio so you can take notes on the many tips and tricks that Meghann has to share. You’re going to love seeing how this layout is created using a combination of traditional stamping and some must-have digital cut files. Best of luck with your goals for 2016, think big! I know you can do it.

Peace, Love, Joy by Shemaine Smith

Who didn’t get a chance to send out Christmas cards this year? No need to feel guilty, many of us had good intentions but time got away and we missed the opportunity. Moving forward there is still time to send greetings to our loved ones by sending out New Year cards. I’d like to thank Shemaine and Therm O Web for sharing these beautiful New Years cards.

Happy New Year by Shemaine Smith

When I think of New Years, I think of sparkle, glamour, and fresh new beginnings, so when I discovered these festive New Years cards on the Therm O Web blog I knew I had to share. Who isn’t going to feel the love when they receive one of these handmade cards in the mail. You’ll be off the hook for not sending out a Christmas card!

Sharing Handmade Kindness by Sandy

Have you heard about Share Handmade Kindness? If not it’s an amazing charity that’s main focus is to remind us of how important it is to be kind to one another. What a great way to start the new year off with a random act of kindness. I highly recommend taking a few minutes to watch Sandy’s video, not only are you going to pick up some great tips on how she created this beautiful card, but you will leave with a very positive outlook to begin the New Year.

Kindness

It would be an honor to escort you over to Sandy’s blog so you, too, can learn more about sharing some of your handmade kindness with others. You never know how the simplest act of kindness can affect someone. If you have any inspirational thoughts or stories that you would like to share, I would love to hear from you. I’ll share the first one as it truly touched my heart. I was at a Scrapbook Expo teaching in the Creativity Center. It was the last day of the show and a fun time was being had by all. At the end of the class one of my students pulled me aside and shared with me that she had come to the Scrapbook Expo because she needed to laugh and have some fun because she was struggling with it being the anniversary of a very tragic moment in her life. Knowing that she would be surrounded by a group of fellow paper crafters (the fuzzies of the earth) she forced herself to leave the house and was so happy that she had come. She thanked me for helping her get through a rough weekend and said she hadn’t laughed so much in a very long time. It was such an amazing feeling knowing that something as simple as sharing the gift of laughter would affect someone so much. Hugs to all – keep up the very important task of spreading those smiles one handmade treasure at a time.

DIY Perpetual Flip Calendar by Laura Gummerman

It’s January and that means it’s time to breakout a new calendar. I love this project because it’s a “perpetual” calendar, which means it’s adaptable to use year after year. This also makes a great gift for family and friends because you can personalize it with different photos for each person.  I hope you’ve been inspired to get those cute photos off your phone and onto this adorable calendar.

Whether you are looking for some creative inspiration, an idea for a handmade gift, or even some great recipes, A Beautiful Mess is one blog you don’t want to miss. It’s hosted by two sisters, Elsie & Emma, and together they are the queens of creativity. Thanks, ladies, for being a huge inspiration to so many.

Make-Ahead Spinach Manicotti

Have you had enough turkey and ham to last you a while? How does a tasty Manicotti recipe sound? This dish is equally at home served to company or for a quiet dinner at home. One of my favorite perks about serving this dish is that you can prepare it the night before, then pop it in the oven an hour before you’re ready to eat. This way you actually get to enjoy your company instead of fussing in the kitchen.

Make-Ahead Spinach Manicotti Recipe by Christy FreemanAll that’s left now is to click here while I take you over to the Taste Of Home site so you can print out the recipe. You might want to print out several copies because you will be asked for the recipe. I usually serve a simple salad, a nice loaf of bread, a bottle of red wine and everyone’s a happy camper. 😉 Just sit back and let the compliments roll in while you enjoy your family time.

Happy New Year from all of us at the Weekly Scrapper! It’s a fresh new year and we have lots of crafting to do! Have a great week and I’ll see you back next Sunday.
