Sundays With Lorraine

Sundays-with-Lorraine

Hello my crafty friends, and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper! While I was searching for amazing projects to share with you, I came across a fuzzy quote that spoke to me and I immediately knew this needed to be my theme for today’s post. Here we go; I hope you enjoy it! The quote read as follows: “How you make others feel about themselves says a lot about you.” so remember when you send out one of your handmade treasures you are lifting up those you love.

The Things You Say By JenEm

What attracted me to this beautiful layout was both the design and the journaling. After being in the Scrapbook Industry for over 15 years I’ve discovered that people who scrapbook tend to be the fuzzies of the earth. We lovingly preserve and present our unique journey through life using various art forms. By journaling on layouts, it helps tie our priceless photos, our thoughts, emotions, and experiences together creating those treasured scrapbooks that will be enjoyed for many years to come.

Many of us are all about our precious photos (which is wonderful) but we don’t give our journaling the respect that it deserves. (No worries, we all fall short in this area.) Think about how without the journaling, we’d have photos without the story behind them. The value of journaling lies in the fact that it provides an account of family histories that may otherwise be forgotten over time. I love the idea of pages sprinkled through my scrapbook that highlight my thoughts, feelings, and special things I want my loved ones to remember about each other. I hope you’ve been inspired to add some extra journaling to your next layout.

Garden Gate Card By Betsy Veldman

I’m excited to share one of the cards that Besty created using the new Papertrey Ink Garden Gate Kit that was just released on August 1st. I was blown away with all the gorgeous designs that Betsy was kind enough to share on her blog Paper, Scissors & Super Heros. You’re going to love them!

You’re Amazing By Yoonsun Hur

It’s a beautiful thing to find someone who makes you feel encouraged, uplifted, and valued, and that’s what happens each time you send out one of your handmade cards, so keep up the good work. Who wouldn’t feel the love that was put into this cheerful card?

You're Amazing By Yoonsun Hur

Yoonsun used the Diagonal Sentiment Strip Cover-Up Die-namics from My Favorite Things that she watercolored with various Tim Holtz Distress Inks. For the complete instructions on how Yoonsun created this fun card click here and I would be honored to escort you over for a visit.

Mixed Media Pencil Case By Riikka Kovasin

With the ongoing textile trend still on fire, I thought you might enjoy this artsy pencil case designed by the very talented Riikka Kovasin. Rikka actually sewed this pencil case, but not to worry if sewing isn’t your thing! I have seen premade canvas type bags in all shapes and sizes at Michaels, JoAnns, and Hobby Lobby, just to name a few retail outlets. There’s nothing wrong with taking a shortcut here and there, right? 😉 If you’re up to the challenge of sewing your own bag, click here and I’ll take you over to Hamels Thread Blog where you’ll find a great step-by-step tutorial with tons of great photos.

It’s important to have fun with your art to achieve success. Art is our therapy, so it shouldn’t be stressful! Just have fun and remember that it’s ok to color outside the lines. There are no rules! There is something so creatively inspiring when you sit down and just PLAY.  No rules, no guidelines… just experimentation at it’s finest. Have fun creating your one-of-a-kind piece. You might want to make a couple because the girls are going to love yours.

Grilled Lime Salmon with Avocado-Mango Salsa and Coconut Rice

Whether you’re having company over for dinner or just looking for something different to add into your regular dinner rotation, you’re going to love the flavor combinations of the slightly charred lime salmon with the sweet, fruity salsa and the rich and creamy coconut rice.

Bon appetit!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I have some fun projects in the works for you coming next Sunday so be sure and check back. Have a great week!
