Card Swappin’ With Dave in Pleasanton, CA

Hello to all of my Card Swappin’ friends!  Spring has finally sprung!  The sounds and sights of spring are here and what a better way to start the season than to “spring” into action with some great card making.  Fill your cards with all of the wonderful colors and flowers of spring to bring them to life.  Our 2018 Card Swap events at Stamp & Scrapbook Expo have started the year off right and I am ready to share some great card creations for 2018.

Our first card swap of the show season was in Pleasanton, CA earlier this month and the Friday swap was filled with 40 awesome card makers!  Trying to select 20 from the 40  beautiful cards that were made was hard for everyone.  The cards were filled with so many great ideas, techniques, and products.  Ernostine Foster-Bell created this card with a special message inside for everyone.  I loved the paper design for the dress and of course, we all loved the bling. This card is so elegant as well.  You can see why it was chosen as the most appreciated card on Friday.

On Saturday we had more amazing cards that were created by our guests.  The birthday card below is a fold-out card that has several places to put birthday wishes for that special person.  When you open this card, just when you think you have received all of your birthday wishes there is another flap with even more birthday surprise messages.  It is a lot of fun!  The middle of the card has a large space for you to put that final and special birthday message all hidden away for only the recipient to see.  Sheila created this card and shared with the group and was one of two “Most Appreciated Card” winners.

Linda Graham created this beautiful card with the message “Thanks For Being You.” This card lets you know you are appreciated by the person who sent it to you.  Can you imagine how much this card will brighten the day of the person who receives it?  It is so important that we send cards to let people know how much they are thought of.  The paper on the bottom of the card was embossed to look like a brick wall and the flower paper on the top is gorgeous which adds to how special this card really is.  The floral lace at the top of the wall is such an elegant element to add along with the delicate flowers and bling.

Card Swap guest Donna Livingston-Futch shared a tip about what she uses to adhere lace and materials to her cards.  Pictured below is a product that she uses to iron on the lace to her cards.  She suggested that you set your iron on the wool setting or medium heat so it is not too hot for the fabrics.  I love when my card making friends share these great tips to add to your cards and card making techniques.

You can see that the Card Swaps at the shows are in full swing with great card makers and great card making ideas.  Next month I will feature some of the cards from our swaps in Irving. TX and Pomona, CA.  Plan to join us at a show near you to be part of these great Card Swappin’ events.

I add a lot of ribbon and lace to my paper doll tags. I look forward to trying the Heat n Bond Ultrahold. Good tip.

These are some creative cards. Great techniques. I am loving the last card by Linda Graham. The colors are so coordinated and the flowers and the ribbon are a wonderful touch.
