Hello, my crafty friends, and welcome back to Stamp & Scrapbook Expo’s blog. We are five shows into our 2018 season and I am happy to report that with each new show I am meeting lots of new paper crafters. With this in mind, I thought we could all use a little back to basics post. I hope you are inspired to give a few of these techniques a try.
Whale Watching Layout by Yapha Mason
I love how Yapha used one of her photos as a background in place of patterned paper. Not only does it tie things together nicely, but it also allows you to get an extra photo on your layout, not to mention that it helps keep this an inexpensive layout. Let’s face it, sometimes we can get a little carried away when shopping for scrapbook supplies, so creating a gorgeous layout without breaking the bank is a welcome thing.

Ride ’em Cowboy Masculine Card by Kathy
With Father’s Day right around the corner, I thought you might enjoy this fun and masculine card. If you struggle with designing the perfect masculine-themed card and/or gift, you are not alone. Many of our go-to embellishments like bling, flowers, and charms don’t suit the project at hand, but not to worry, with a little guidance from our creative friend Kathy, you too can create an amazing masculine card in no time.
Check out the inside; now that’s paying attention to detail. I think that Dad will definitely feel the love that was put into this little work of art, don’t you?
Do you give the inside of your handmade card the love it deserves? I confess that I am guilty of taking a few shortcuts, my main focus is on the outside but after seeing all the detail that Kathy added to the inside, it inspires me to pay a little more attention to the fine details. I love how she added a little pocket which would be perfect for a gift card to Dad’s favorite store or restaurant.

I Instantly fell in love with those gorgeous denim blue colors and all that yummy texture. Whether this is your first mixed media project or you are a mixed media queen, this is one post you don’t want to miss. Sara shares some great tips and techniques that you are sure to use over and over again.
I hope you’ve been inspired to break out those new supplies that you purchased at the last show and put them to good use.
