Freebie Friday – My Favorite Things

My Favorite Things Shaker Card by Jen Walker

Hello Scrapbook Expo friends! We are back today with another great giveaway from one of our friends. This week, I had the pleasure of working with stamps and dies from My Favorite Things. I really enjoy working with clear stamps that have coordinating dies. These coordinated sets make it much easier to cut out the small characters that are so fun to work with.  For these projects, I worked with the Birdie Brown You Gnome Me stamps and dies, Pure Innocence Heart Bouquet stamps and dies as well as the Die-namics Blueprints 23 set.

My Favorite Things

I started off by die cutting a series of items on white cardstock and stamping their coordinating images onto the cut shapes.

My Favorite Things Blank Images

I then used my blendable colored pencils to colour a series of images. I always colour more than I am going to use so I can see how the different colours affect how the characters will look on the white and/or coloured cardstock base. It also means I have lots of images for later as well 🙂

My Favorite Things Extra Images

On this first card, I used the large rectangle panel to mount the image and sentiment. I really like how the rectangle has the appearance of stitching on both the top and bottom edges.

On this next card, I added a few enamels dots to the coloured images to add a little bit of dimension to the card. hehe … I love this sentiment … “You Gnome Me So Well.”

For this last card, I created a shaker card.  I started by cutting the navy cardstock piece to the full size for mounting on the card base and then used the rectangle panel die to create the opening space.  I adhered a single red heart on to the heart bouquet that the little girl is holding. I then filled the shaker space with matching foil hearts. The sentiment was stamped using a rainbow stamp pad and is raised on foam dots above the clear acetate piece of the shaker.

This last project includes a few project life style cards. Given that I have been filling my albums with a combination of both 12×12 layouts and pocket pages, I often create 2×3 and 4×6 project life style cards that I can use later.

As soon as I saw the Birdie Brown stamps, they reminded me of moments with my kids when they were small. The card on the left reminds me of my daughter when she was small. She loved to wear orange and used to pick flowers from our garden and bring little bouquets to me all the time. I can’t wait to find one of her photos to use with this card!

So there you have it. Wasn’t that fun! I am a new fan of the Birdie Brown and Pure Innocence collections.
