Sundays with Lorraine

Sundays-with-Lorraine

Hello my artsy friends, I hope all is well in your world and that you’re ready to relax and get your craft on!

It’s All About The Journey

Life really is all about the journey which is why it’s so very important to scrapbook it. Generations from now your loved ones are going to have the privilege of knowing all about you and your journey because you’ve taken on the role of being the family scrapbooker. Yay, you! You are all that and a bag of chips! 🙂

It's All About The Journey

This layout is proof that it really is all about the details. I highly recommend stopping by the Sizzix blog where Jan shares a step-by-step tutorial on how she created this gorgeous design. I’d like to say kudos to all you passionate scrapbookers for taking on the responsibility of preserving your unique journey.  What a treasure you’re creating for your family, now and forever! Keep up the good work and feel a hug from me!

Bloom Where You’re Planted

There is something about this color combination that always catches my eye; it pairs well with many different styles. On this card Jessie used the gorgeous new Patterned Petals collection. This set can go contemporary or homey depending on the papers and inks used. The wonderfully delicate leaves go with the leaf scroll CutUps and the posies with the Five Petal Posies and Petal Posies CutUps.

To see more card designs using this set you can click HERE and I will take you over to visit Jessie’s blog, The Cats Pajamas. Get comfy, you’re gonna be there a while! Jessie really is quite the designer; you are sure to be inspired to start that next project.

A Bit Of Zen

Have you given Zentangle a try? It really is a very relaxing technique and a great way to break through those creative blocks that seem to sneak up on us (no worries, it happens to everyone). I love that there are no rules; Zentangle is basically just doodling and who doesn’t love to doodle?

A Bit Of Zen

Zentangle is also a great way to create a unique, one-of-a-kind background to use in your cardmaking, mixed media art, scrapbooking etc. The possibilities are endless! Remember art should be fun and inspirational, not stressful, so just have fun with it .

Spring Inspired Striped Mason Jars

I confess I have a thing for Mason Jars, old or new I love them all! I’ve used them for everything from a drinking glass to creating a unique soap dispenser for my kitchen. As you can see they can also be used to organize the tools in your craft room. Who says storage needs to be boring?

Spring Inspired Striped Mason Jars

Here’s a little Ball Jar Trivia for all my fellow mason jar lovers. 2013 marked the 100th anniversary of the development of a series of jars, designed by the Ball brothers, each intended to be better than the one before. 1913 saw the launch of the first true “Perfect Mason” jar followed in 1914 by the “PERFECTION,” then finally by “IMPROVED” in 1915. The limited edition Purple Heritage Collection Jars are a celebration of that heritage, featuring period-inspired purple color and embossed logos on front and back; perfect for all of your creations. What a bonus that you can have the vintage look without the vintage price tag, I knew we could have it all ;-). I’ve seen them in both pint and quart sizes (the quart size have the wide mouth opening); they are also available in green, and that gorgeous vintage teal. I picked up my green and teal at the grocery store in my area but I have also seen them in craft stores like Michael’s, JoAnn’s and Hobby Lobby. How cute would they look mixed in with your newly paint mason jars?

Weight Watchers Friendly Sesame Chicken & Rice

Ok, if I put it in writing it must be so, right? Here it goes, I am officially starting Weight Watchers today. (Now that wasn’t so bad!) This means I will be on the hunt for fast, easy, healthy, and of course delicious meals and snacks to share with you. But not to worry, I won’t forget to include some must-have comfort foods here and there.
