Saturdays With LeAnn

Let Your Dreams Soar

Good Saturday morning, my friends!  My favorite time of the week, time for me to share more inspiration and fun projects with you!  I hope you are all geared up to learn more new techniques and create beautiful items that will brighten your crafting weekend!  So let’s sit back, relax and enjoy today’s wonderful projects by many talented designers!

Hooray By Jill Keller

This layout is for those of you who love to add some hand stitching on your layouts.  What an adorable way to remember what age your precious child or grandchild was in their photo.  I love the look of sewing on all my papercrafts, from scrapbooking layouts to greeting cards.  Sewing and embroidery adds dimension without a lot of bulk and has the added benefit of attaching elements to the page in the process.  You can sew by hand or with your machine, and both techniques are easier than you might think.  I love the character it gives to the layout!

Scrapbook pages are such treasured moments and memories.  Don’t you just love to pull out your scrapbooks and reminisce about all those fond memories?  Down the road you will feel like you walked through memory lane!  Jill captured a sweet moment of her darling daughter on her 5th birthday.  Jill’s layout is full of fun elements, and she has such a great way of giving layouts a nice contrast.  I am sure you would love to see more of Jill’s talent with her scrapbooking, so let me take you on over to Creating Us.  Take some time and enjoy her inspiration of her beautiful creations.

Let Your Dreams Soar By Yana Smakula

Are you ready for a new challenge?  Today I want to share some fabulous extra fine watercolors that will bring your project to life.  Have you heard about Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors?  I recently tried these and oh, my, I am in love!  This adorable card, created by Yana Smakula, is a great example of using these fabulous watercolors, along with fun stamps and dies.  If you love watercoloring as much as I do, you too will fall in love!

Let Your Dreams Soar

You will want to take the opportunity to play with these extraordinary PrimaTek watercolors.  The 240+ color collection will allow you to capture the most beautiful colors that exist in nature that most watercolors cannot capture!  I just love this darling card by Yana and how it really captures the feeling of summer.  Yana did such an amazing job with her coloring that I would love for you to visit her blog Yana Smakula.  You will find a step-by-step tutorial showing how she created her card and see so many other handmade projects that she creates weekly.

Pressed Flower Coasters By Marianne Koo

Tiny pressed flowers peek through glass tiles on these decorative coasters.  Make a set and bring a hint of nature into your living room, office, or even your dining room.  Dried flower coasters also make lovely gifts, and the best part is bringing in the flowers you found in your own backyard!  Press the flowers yourself, or you can use pre-pressed blooms.  You can use any variety of flowers or leaves that you love.  A collection of coasters is even more charming if each one is unique!

Pressed Flower Coasters

Keep your recipient’s favorite flowers in mind when looking for flowers to press.  These coasters are guaranteed to put a smile on the face of who receives them. They will make the most perfect gift!  Are you ready to see a step-by-step tutorial on how to make these beautiful coasters?  Click here and Marianne Koo will show you exactly how she created these.  I just love bringing the outdoors into my home and always feeling the beauty of summer!  You are going to love these!

Chocolate & Berries Yogurt Dessert

Dive into a frosty layered dessert with fudgy cookies, whipped fluffy yogurt, hot fudge sauce, and fresh berries.  Is your mouth watering yet?  This fabulous dessert can be made way ahead of time and it is much easier than it looks!

Chocolate & Berries Yogurt Dessert

This impressive dessert will leave your guests wondering how long this must have taken you to make.  It is rich tasting, yet healthier than many desserts.  The chocolate is a great complement to the berries and yogurt.  It is perfect for those moments when you want an impressive dessert, but don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen.  You will certainly be the hit of your party with this refreshing summer dessert!  Click here so you can copy the recipe.  This is one you don’t want to miss out on!  Enjoy 🙂

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you are enjoying your summer, and being able to spend some time creating!  I look forward to seeing you back here next Saturday!  Have a great week.

Hugs to you all,

Sundays With Lorraine

Hello my crafty friends, and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper! While I was searching for amazing projects to share with you, I came across a fuzzy quote that spoke to me and I immediately knew this needed to be my theme for today’s post. Here we go; I hope you enjoy it! The quote read as follows: “How you make others feel about themselves says a lot about you.” so remember when you send out one of your handmade treasures you are lifting up those you love.

The Things You Say By JenEm

What attracted me to this beautiful layout was both the design and the journaling. After being in the Scrapbook Industry for over 15 years I’ve discovered that people who scrapbook tend to be the fuzzies of the earth. We lovingly preserve and present our unique journey through life using various art forms. By journaling on layouts, it helps tie our priceless photos, our thoughts, emotions, and experiences together creating those treasured scrapbooks that will be enjoyed for many years to come.

The Things You Say Scrapbook Layout By JenEm

Many of us are all about our precious photos (which is wonderful) but we don’t give our journaling the respect that it deserves. (No worries, we all fall short in this area.) Think about how without the journaling, we’d have photos without the story behind them. The value of journaling lies in the fact that it provides an account of family histories that may otherwise be forgotten over time. I love the idea of pages sprinkled through my scrapbook that highlight my thoughts, feelings, and special things I want my loved ones to remember about each other. I hope you’ve been inspired to add some extra journaling to your next layout.

Garden Gate Card By Betsy Veldman

I’m excited to share one of the cards that Besty created using the new Papertrey Ink Garden Gate Kit that was just released on August 1st. I was blown away with all the gorgeous designs that Betsy was kind enough to share on her blog Paper, Scissors & Super Heros. You’re going to love them!

Garden Gate Card By Besty Veldman

Betsy has really outdone herself with this kit! I highly recommend stopping by and checking out her video which reveals all the amazing treasure that comes in this limited edition kit as well as several other amazing projects.

You’re Amazing By Yoonsun Hur

It’s a beautiful thing to find someone who makes you feel encouraged, uplifted, and valued, and that’s what happens each time you send out one of your handmade cards, so keep up the good work. Who wouldn’t feel the love that was put into this cheerful card?

You're Amazing By Yoonsun Hur

Yoonsun used the Diagonal Sentiment Strip Cover-Up Die-namics from My Favorite Things that she watercolored with various Tim Holtz Distress Inks. For the complete instructions on how Yoonsun created this fun card click here and I would be honored to escort you over for a visit.

Mixed Media Pencil Case By Riikka Kovasin

With the ongoing textile trend still on fire, I thought you might enjoy this artsy pencil case designed by the very talented Riikka Kovasin. Rikka actually sewed this pencil case, but not to worry if sewing isn’t your thing! I have seen premade canvas type bags in all shapes and sizes at Michaels, JoAnns, and Hobby Lobby, just to name a few retail outlets. There’s nothing wrong with taking a shortcut here and there, right? 😉 If you’re up to the challenge of sewing your own bag, click here and I’ll take you over to Hamels Thread Blog where you’ll find a great step-by-step tutorial with tons of great photos.

It’s important to have fun with your art to achieve success. Art is our therapy, so it shouldn’t be stressful! Just have fun and remember that it’s ok to color outside the lines. There are no rules! There is something so creatively inspiring when you sit down and just PLAY.  No rules, no guidelines… just experimentation at it’s finest. Have fun creating your one-of-a-kind piece. You might want to make a couple because the girls are going to love yours.

Grilled Lime Salmon with Avocado-Mango Salsa and Coconut Rice

Whether you’re having company over for dinner or just looking for something different to add into your regular dinner rotation, you’re going to love the flavor combinations of the slightly charred lime salmon with the sweet, fruity salsa and the rich and creamy coconut rice.

To help celebrate, Stamp & Scrapbook Expo and Weekly Scrapper are giving away a $50 gift certificate to use at the Expo of your choice. Make sure and read Jen’s National Scrapbook Day post and enter to win this fun prize. You’ll LOVE Jen’s special round-up of events that celebrate National Scrapbooking Day. There are so many opportunities for you to win big!

I am also excited to share some great projects that I discovered this week on several blogs. I love this saying: “All good things come to those who craft.” I think it’s the perfect motto for National Scrapbooking Day! I hope you will be inspired by the projects I have collected to share with you today.

All Smiles By Gabrielle Pollacco

The first project today is a beautiful layout created by Gabrielle Pollacco.  I love the vintage charm of this layout!  Gabrielle has added beautiful embellishments and details to this layout, and yet her priceless photo is still the first thing your eyes are drawn to. What a beautiful way to preserve a special photo.

All Smiles

Gabrielle used the classic papers from the Maja Design “Life by the Sea” collection.  You can add a little accent just by tearing the two papers and curling back the edges.  Chipboard pieces are one of my favorite embellishments and they add so much character and dimension to a layout. Spice them up by adding some color to get that perfect look for your layout.  Just have fun and remember there are no set rules when it comes to creating your layouts.  I am always inspired when I visit Gabrielle’s blog, so skip on over to Such a Pretty Mess and you will be inspired, too!

Soft And Sweet By Cherry Nelson

With Mother’s Day tomorrow, it’s not too late to create this darling card for a special mother.  This card is filled with a pretty, shabby chic look and is perfect for a wonderful mother.

Who wouldn’t love a little extra color in their world?  What a choice card to brighten up someone’s day! I hope you will be inspired to give this one a try.  Have fun stamping, my crafty friends! 🙂

Antique Window By Cindy

Today I would like to share how to take an old window and turn it from trash into treasure.  Who would have ever thought by adding some paint, beautiful lace, and fun hearts you could transform an old window into a treasured wall décor piece?  Old windows can really give character to a home.

Antique Window

I have a couple in my home and always get so many compliments on them.  One of the first remarks I usually get is who would have ever thought an old window could be so stunning.  The next question is “Where did you ever find an old window?”  The answer to the question is to look at yard sales.  Sometime you can even go to the dump and find them there.  Come along with me over to DIY Beautify where Cindy will give you instructions on how she created her outstanding antique window.  Be sure to browse her blog for more wonderful and inspirational ideas.  You will certainly have a blast creating some new things for your home!

Peach Tart By Kelly Senyei

OK, my crafty friends, it is time to take a break and go into the kitchen and whip up a yummy dessert for your weekend.  This Five-Ingredient Peach Tart is one that everyone is going to love.  Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and wow, you have won everyone’s heart!

Peach Tart

Slices of juicy peaches do all of the talking.  With a layer of buttery puff pastry for the bottom, lemon juice, an egg, and a dusting of confectioner’s sugar to top it off, this is pure flavor of perfection. It is so simple and very, very yummy!  How much better does this get?  You will serve one amazing dessert!

I hope you have been inspired today.  I will be at the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo in Denver on May 13th and 14th. Please stop at the Registration Desk and say hello, I would love to see you! Happy Mother’s Day to all of you special moms; I hope you have a fabulous weekend.

Ampersand Home Decor

Happy Spring, everyone!  Another fabulous weekend is here and I wish you a very happy Easter weekend. I thank you for sharing part of it with me. Today you are sure to be inspired by some wonderful and talented designers. I hope you will take the time to enjoy and create some of the fabulous projects I have to share with you.

Paradise By Denise Van Deventer

With the winter season behind us and summer on its way, I thought you might enjoy a nice summer-inspired project.  I fell in love with the beautiful blue colors, along with the gel paste and the new Under the Sea Stickable stencil by Bo Bunny. This layout is perfect for those summer photos that are waiting for you to showcase them on a lovely layout.

I love the way that Denise added some drops of acrylic onto her page, then sprayed water onto the drops so the paint spreads out and seeps into the paper.  This gives such a beautiful look to her background. Mixed media is really fun and there is no right or wrong way to do it.  Most important is to play and have fun with it! Click here to see Denise’s full step-by-step tutorial on how she created this fabulous layout.  It is time to break out some of those treasures you might have of beach and travel, and begin to have fun creating your own beautiful masterpiece!

Just For You By Leslie Miller

I really enjoy working with die cuts. They make my projects work up quickly and also give some dimension to them, not to mention how beautiful they always turn out!  This darling card was created with several die cuts and an embossing folder.

Just For You

Leslie Miller created this fabulous card.  She completed it by stamping the adorable birds, coloring them with Prismacolor pencils, and shading with soft chalks.  She colored her birdhouses and flowers with Copic markers.  Be sure to pop on over to Running With Scissors to get all the supplies you will need to create this fun card.

I know here at Weekly Scrapper you will find many projects to inspire you, along with taking your mind of those stressful things in your life. I enjoy being able to take this time to be with you and share some of my passion for crafting so sit back, relax, and enjoy today’s inspiration!

Adventurous By Mona Pendleton

Let’s start out today with a gorgeous layout designed by the very talented Mona Pendleton. This was a layout created from a challenge of using a selfie photo to describe more than words can say. I myself am not a selfie taker; whenever I have tried it out, I really cringed with the results. My daughters will pull me into their selfies occasionally, and since I love being photographed with them, those are the selfies that turn out the best. How many times do we scrapbook other people and rarely have any layouts of ourselves?  Selfies do make for the most hysterically funny and personal images and really show off personalities, so I loved seeing this layout from Mona.

Mona’s layout is amazing as she used Prima texture paste and a variety of inks for her background.  Adding a combination of Prima flowers and die cut leaves really gave the layout some great dimension. Think of all of the possibilities you can come up with using texture paste and inks, it is just one unique background after another! If you haven’t spent time recently on Mona’s fabulous blog, click here and I will take you over.  You’re sure to leave inspired to start on your next project.  Have fun experimenting. 🙂

Butterfly Inspiration By Amy Sheffer

Are you one that likes to keep your projects clean and simple?  Have you ever come across a template or die cut and wondered just how you could incorporate it into your project?  Today I want to share a darling card that is clean, simple, and very colorful. This is a great way to get away from those winter blues. Remember, spring is just around the corner!

Butterflies Inspirations

Amy Sheffer created this darling card using the Bitty Butterflies Cover Plate and Bitty Butterflies stamp set. She die-cut the cover plate, then stamped the butterfly cut-outs in different colors. Pulling the wings forward gave the card some dimension.  Be sure to stop by Pickled Paper Designs to get your butterfly inspiration. Amy will give you some great ideas and a punch of inspiration to get you started!

Love You By Melissa Phillips

It is always important to have inspiration around us to remind us to be creative.  This is exactly what Melissa Phillips does every time I go to her blog.  She is so inspiring and always portrays such beautiful and amazing ideas.  Today I want to share with you one of her outstanding masterpieces that I know  will inspire you.

Love You

Melissa created the background for her card by using several stamps from Papertrey Ink such as the Sheet Music stamp set along with the Keep It Simple Love mini stamp set.  I love the way this gives some personality to her card.  Don’t you just love the fresh look of her sweet card?  It is amazing what a cheerful card can do!  Whether your style is vintage or simple and clean, you will be amazed how creative you can be with the supplies you have laying around in your stash.  Pull out some of your favorite treasures and don’t be afraid to mix and match whatever you have.

Re-purposed Sweater Pillows By Cami

I think you are really going to enjoy today’s inspiration piece.  I really wanted to share this with you because I think these are so fun and what a great way to use an old sweater.  Don’t give your old sweaters to the thrift store before you see which ones will turn into a classic pillow.  Once you find the perfect sweater, you will need either a pillow form or some sort of fiber-fill stuffing.  You can even cut up old pillows and re-purpose the filling for a new pillow.  This project can be done super cheap!

Re-purposed Sweater Pillows

Re-purposed Sweater Pillow

What a fun way to make your home more cozy in the winter. Wouldn’t these be perfect for a treasured gift?  Click here and I will take you over to Tidbits where Cami will give you step-by-step instructions.  All you have to do is search for that perfect sweater to make your own one-of-a-kind pillow. Happy crafting!

Blueberry Cheesecake Protein Drink By Jaclyn

Even in the middle of winter it is so nice to have a refreshing and revitalizing smoothie!  The Blueberry Cheesecake Protein drink is the perfect pick me up to start your day.  It is filled with yummy and healthy ingredients.  If you love smoothies, you will want to add this to your smoothie list!

Blueberry Cheesecake Protein Drink

I’m almost certain you are going to be hooked. It is so good you will dream about this yummy smoothie! Once you try this you are going to have to keep extra frozen blueberries and bananas on hand at all times. A nice plus is that it only takes a few minutes to make, and is definitely a smoothie you will want to make often. 🙂  Come with me over to Cooking Classy where you will find the ingredients and how to create this delicious drink.

No matter what your talent is, today is a great time to try a new technique or to step out of your comfort zone.  Think of it as a “creative stretch.”  Thank you for joining me today, and as always I look forward for your return next Saturday.  Have a great week!
