Winter Hills & Peaceful Pinecones

Do you have moments lost in your own thoughts where some aspect of nature just makes you smile quietly to yourself? The image of snow covered hills and the way snow clings to the branches of a tree just after its fallen, brings out a very serene peacefulness inside of me.  When I saw this card those moments came to mind.

The creator of this card, Nicole Heady from Papertrey Ink, says she only used a single layer of Classic Kraft cardstock on the cover, but it still gives the illusion of depth & texture.

She stamped the house from Papertrey Inks Winter Hills in Black Noir Palette ink and colored it with Copic markers.  She then added the trees on either side using Ripe Avocado ink, stamping twice with each inking to achieve two intensities.  There is a small snow flurry cluster included in the set, which she used with Fresh Snow ink just above the tree line.  She added a bit of shimmer to the trees with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen.

She used reverse die-cut masks created with the In the Meadow dies to sponge Fresh Snow ink and create hills.  The sentiment, from In the Meadow, was added with black ink.

I’m a huge fan of Papertrey Ink and I think Nicole’s work is beautiful.  If you haven’t been to her blog I recommend you visit it now:  Capture the Moment.

Have fun creating and I hope you’ve enjoyed!
