Hand Stitched Thanksgiving Card

Hand Stitched Thanksgiving Card created by Becki Adams for @Scrapbookexpo #ssbe2017 #ScrapbookExpo #cardmaking #handmadecard

Hey Stamp & Scrapbook Expo friends and fans, Becki here to share with you a hand stitched Thanksgiving card. I’m thrilled that November is finally here. It’s my favorite month of the year! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and my birthday month. Today I have a Thanksgiving themed card to share with you that I created with the Vintage Blessings collection from Simple Stories. This card could be used a couple of different ways. I think it would be a great thank you card or an invitation to Thanksgiving dinner. Because I’m not hosting Thanksgiving at our home, I will be using it as thank you card. This collection has such a warm, cozy, homespun feeling so I decided to emphasize that feeling throughout the card. The main embellishment on this card is the quilted heart. There was stitching printed around the heart so I decided to do some hand stitching on top of the printed stitching. I used cream embroidery floss (all six strands) for my hand stitching.

Hand stitching makes such a big impact on this card. It only took about 20 minutes to do all of the stitching on this card. I LOVE how it turned out. I can’t wait to share this card to thank our extended family for hosting Thanksgiving this year. Do you create Thanksgiving themed cards? Are you creating Thanksgiving cards to use as invitations or to thank your hostess? I’d love to hear what you’re creating.

Thank you for stopping by the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo blog to see my hand stitched Thanksgiving card. I’ll be back next Thursday for another edition of Inspiration Station. I’ll see you then!

I like the hand quilted look of this card! I have not stitched paper – by hand or machine. For this project, did you pre-poke the holes before actually stitching with the needle and floss?

Hi Melody! When I hand stitch on paper, I always prepoke the holes before I start stitching. I’ve found that this is much easier and less time consuming than trying to poke holes as I am stitching with the needle and floss.
I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions. I hope you’ll give stitching a try. It’s one of my favorite techniques. Thank you for stopping by the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo blog ~Becki

Hi Melody! Yes, when I hand stitch on paper, I always prepoke the holes. I use a paper piercer but you can poke the holes with a needle too. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for stopping by the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo blog. ~Becki
